If it is possible to obtain wealth, I also want to practice Brahmacharya in the presence of the Blessed One. Then, the venerable Śāriputra said: Child, do your parents allow it? He said: Venerable Śāriputra, I am allowed. Then, the venerable Śāriputra ordained that child, gave him full ordination, and also imparted the teachings to him. He also, through diligence, practice, and effort, abandoned all defilements and directly realized the state of an Arhat. After he attained the state of an Arhat, he established his parents in the truths, and also placed them in the midst of giving and the distribution of giving. Then, one day, the gods made a sound on Sabkang Mountain, saying: Hey, near your village reside the monks Śāriputra and Maudgalyāyana, if you do not go to them for the sake of being revered, what good things can you obtain? Then, many people dwelling on Sabkang Mountain, having heard the sound, gathered from one group to another, from one family to another, from one joyous group to another, and came down from Sabkang Mountain to where the venerable Śāriputra and Maudgalyāyana were, and having arrived, prostrated at their feet and began to engage in reverence. Then, the venerable Śāriputra and Maudgalyāyana thought: The gain and reverence for us two should cease. We two also made a vow to Kokalika: If you do not tell anyone that we two are staying in this monastery, then we two will stay in this monastery. If one day we two obtain gain and reverence, then we two will not even tell you, and will leave from this monastery. Having thought this, they left that monastery. The disciples and attendants of Kokalika said: We also go together with the two teachers. Śāriputra said: You go to Rājagṛha, we two need to go separately to do the work of subduing, if everyone goes there, the food will also become tight, that would not be good. Having heard this, the Sangha

Those people went from the crossroads to Rajagriha and settled down. The Venerable Shariputra and Maudgalyayana took another path, and as they set out, the rain began to fall slowly and sparsely. There was a cave on that hillside, and a female buffalo had previously entered it, so the two men occupied its resting place. After the two of them left from there, the monks Shariputra and Maudgalyayana came there and sat at the cave entrance. After they left from that monastery residence, the monk Kokalika also came to his own vihara. When he arrived there, he did not see his disciples and attendants, so he asked the other monks: Where have my disciples and attendants gone? They replied: They have gone together with the monks Shariputra and Maudgalyayana. Upon hearing this, the monk Kokalika became very angry and said: Those two left without inviting me, and they even took my retinue with them. While he was sitting there, a householder also came directly, and Kokalika asked the householder: Householder, where has your son gone? The householder replied: He has become a renunciate. Renunciate under whom? The householder replied: He has become a renunciate under Shariputra. Upon hearing this, he became even more angry with the two of them. Furthermore, the Brahmins living on Sabkang Mountain also rebuked him with heartbreaking words, saying: Venerable Kokalika, if the monks Shariputra and Maudgalyayana come here, you did not invite us. After that, he became distraught and thought: Although those two have taken my retinue, I cannot let my own retinue be lost. I should go and gather my own retinue and then return. So, he put on his robes, took his bowl, and set out on the same path that the monks Shariputra and Maudgalyayana had taken, and eventually arrived at the entrance of that very cave. The monk Kokalika saw the monks Shariputra and Maudgalyayana sitting at that cave entrance, and he went towards them and prostrated at their feet.

Having done pleasant things in the grove, they stayed together. Then, the mother buffalo heard their voices, came out of the cave, and left. Then, Kokālika ate khu phrig. That one with long life was also an expert in interpreting signs. He saw that the mother buffalo had been raped by two men. Then, as soon as he saw that, such a sinful view arose in him. He harshly and rudely rebuked them, saying, 'These two delight in sin and possess the nature of sin.' Then, he went to Rājagṛha (王舍城) and entered the Light Garden, placed his alms bowl and robes, and made untrue accusations against every monk he saw, saying, 'Those two delight in sin and possess the nature of sin.' Then, at that time, the monks heard and reported it to the Blessed One. Then, there the Blessed One spoke to the monk Kokālika, 'Kokālika, Kokālika, you should be pleased with the monks Śāriputra and Maudgalyāyana, who are very virtuous, discerning, and behave like Brahmā. May you not long suffer harm, disadvantage, and pain.' He said, 'I have faith in the Blessed One, and even though I trust very much, the monks Śāriputra and Maudgalyāyana are those who delight in sin and possess a sinful mind.' Likewise, the Blessed One spoke twice, three times, to the monk Kokālika, 'Kokālika, Kokālika, you should be pleased with the monks Śāriputra and Maudgalyāyana, who are very virtuous, discerning, and behave like Brahmā. May you not long suffer harm, disadvantage, and pain.' He said, 'I have faith in the Blessed One, and even though I trust very much, the monks Śāriputra and Maudgalyāyana are those who delight in sin and are controlled by sin.' Then, the monk Kokālika, not doing as the Blessed One had said twice, three times, rose from his seat and left. Then, as soon as he left, the entire body of the monk Kokālika became filled with flesh the size of mustard seeds. Then, after that,
