Adorned with armlets and bracelets, wearing a crown adorned with various precious jewels, his body smeared with saffron, Tamala leaves, and black incense, that one, on that very night, filled a vessel with divine Udumbara flowers, lotuses, water lilies, white lotuses, and Mandarava flowers, became invisible from among the gods of the Thirty-Three, went before the Blessed One, and scattered divine Udumbara flowers, lotuses, water lilies, white lotuses, and Mandarava flowers upon the Blessed One, bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One, and sat before him in order to listen to the Dharma. Then, the Blessed One, having understood his thoughts, habits, faculties, consciousness, and nature, taught him the Dharma that was in accordance with him. Therefore, that son of the gods, who had previously been a Brahmin, having shattered the twenty high peaks of the mountain of the view of the aggregates with the vajra of wisdom, directly realized the fruit of stream-entry. Having seen the truth, he bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One, circumambulated the Blessed One three times, and became invisible from the presence of the Blessed One. He saw that son sitting in the charnel ground, being extremely sorrowful, lamenting in suffering, beating his chest, crying out "Father! Father!", wandering around. Having seen him, he went to the son and said: Son, I have become free from sorrow, do not grieve too much for me. The son said: Who are you? The son of the gods said: I am your father. The son said: Where were you born? The son of the gods said: I was born in the realm of the gods. The son said: What deeds did you do? The son of the gods said: I revered the Sangha of monks, including the Buddha, and I took refuge and guarded the foundations of training. Son, do not grieve for me, but you should grieve for yourself, and go for refuge to the Blessed One, and from that all your good will arise. Having said this, that son of the gods immediately became invisible and went to the gods of the Thirty-Three. That Brahmin's son also listened to his father's words, abandoned his sorrow for his father, and developed joy towards the Blessed One.

Then, he went to where the Blessed One was, and having arrived, he bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One. In order to listen to the Dharma, he sat before the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One, understanding his thoughts, habits, inclinations, consciousness, and nature, taught him the Dharma that was in accordance with him. Therefore, that Brahmin, having destroyed the twenty high peaks of the mountain of the view of the aggregates of existence with the vajra of wisdom, directly realized the fruit of stream-entry. Having seen the truth, he rose from his seat, draped his upper robe over one shoulder, and, bowing with his palms joined towards where the Blessed One was, he said to the Blessed One: Venerable one, if I can obtain ordination and full ordination in the well-spoken Dharma-vinaya, and become a bhikshu, then I also wish to practice the pure conduct in the presence of the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One ordained him with the words, 'Come, bhikshu,' and conferred full ordination, and also gave him a prophecy. He also, through diligence, practice, and effort, abandoned all defilements and directly realized the state of an Arhat. He, as an Arhat, became free from desire for the three realms, possessing a mind that is equal to gold and dung, like the sky and the palm of the hand, cooled like sandalwood soaked in water, having destroyed the shell of ignorance with wisdom, having obtained wisdom, supernormal powers, and individual perfect knowledge, not looking to the gains, attachments, and honors of existence, becoming a place where the gods, along with their retinues, worship, remember, and speak with reverence. Then, the bhikshus said to the Blessed One: Venerable one, look, this Brahmin boy, who was without faith, was placed by his father in perfect faith. Having ordained, he pleased the Blessed One and did not displease him, abandoned all defilements, and directly realized the state of an Arhat. The Blessed One said: Not only now, but also in the past, how this Brahmin boy, from being without faith, was placed by his father in perfect faith, and how he, having ordained, practiced the pure conduct in one lifetime, listen to that. Bhikshus, in the past...
