有导致多病的业,那是什么呢?就是愤怒,用拳头和灰尘打人,喜欢用拳头和灰尘打人,称赞用拳头和灰尘打人的功德,以及劝人打人,使父母身心不悦,使出家持戒者不悦,幸灾乐祸于仇人得病,仇人病愈则不悦,给病人不适宜的药物,或给病人吃不消化的食物,这样的业会导致多病。有导致少病的业,那是什么呢?就是劝人不做用手掌和拳头打人的行为,称赞不打人的功德,随喜不打人的行为,侍奉生病的父母,无论是出家在家,年老或年轻,都照顾病人,不乐于仇人得病,乐于仇人病愈,布施医药,给予易消化的食物,这样的业会导致少病。有导致相貌丑陋的业,那是什么呢?就是愤怒、怀恨、隐瞒、恼怒,说父母的坏话,说出家在家年长或年轻者的坏话,使佛塔、寺庙和佛塔的地基变得丑陋,熄灭佛塔和佛像的灯,嘲笑相貌丑陋的众生,不注重清洁,这样的业会导致相貌丑陋。有导致相貌美丽的业,那是什么呢?就是不愤怒、不怀恨、不隐瞒、不恼怒,布施衣服,用石灰水粉刷佛塔和寺庙,布施精美的器皿,布施香、涂香、衣服和饰品,称赞父母的优点,称赞圣者和持戒者的优点,经常打扫佛塔的地基、寺庙和房屋,不嘲笑相貌丑陋的众生,同样地,也不嘲笑年长或年轻的其他人。

There are actions that lead to many illnesses. What are they? They are anger, striking with fists and ashes, delighting in striking with fists and ashes, praising the merits of striking with fists and ashes, encouraging others to do so, causing discomfort to the minds and bodies of parents, causing discomfort to the minds of ordained individuals who uphold morality, rejoicing when enemies are afflicted with illness, being displeased when enemies recover from illness, giving unsuitable medicine to the sick, or giving indigestible food to the sick. Such actions lead to many illnesses. There are actions that lead to few illnesses. What are they? They are encouraging others to refrain from striking with palms and fists, praising the merits of not striking, rejoicing in not striking, attending to sick parents, caring for the sick, whether they are ordained or lay, old or young, not being pleased when enemies are sick, being pleased when enemies recover from illness, giving medicine as charity, and providing easily digestible food. Such actions lead to few illnesses. There are actions that lead to an unattractive appearance. What are they? They are anger, holding grudges, concealing, being irritable, speaking ill of parents, speaking ill of ordained or lay people, old or young, making stupas, temples, and the foundations of stupas unattractive, extinguishing the lamps of stupas and images, mocking beings with unattractive appearances, and having poor hygiene. Such actions lead to an unattractive appearance. There are actions that lead to a beautiful appearance. What are they? They are not being angry, not holding grudges, not concealing, not being irritable, giving clothes as charity, whitewashing stupas and temples with lime water, giving beautiful utensils as charity, giving incense, perfume, clothes, and ornaments as charity, praising the virtues of parents, praising the virtues of noble ones and those who uphold morality, regularly sweeping the foundations of stupas, temples, and houses, not mocking beings with unattractive appearances, and similarly, not mocking other people, whether they are old or young.
