Suddha's son was Subuddha. Sukla's son was Maladhara. Dhrta's son was Bhadralena. Amrta's son was Mangala. The Blessed One's son was Rahula, a lineage revered by many pure ones like lotuses. The Venerable Rahula is complete, the stream of existence is cut off, samsara is exhausted, and now there is no rebirth. Then, the Blessed One, having fully understood the words of the Venerable Maha-Maudgalyayana's son, arose and sat down. Having sat down, the Blessed One said to the Venerable Maha-Maudgalyayana's son: "Maudgalyayana's son, well done! Well done! Maudgalyayana's son, it is good that you have spoken the Dharma to the monks, starting from the previous lineage of the Sakyas! Maudgalyayana's son, you should always speak the Dharma, starting from the previous lineage of the Sakyas, for it will bring them long-term benefit, welfare, and happiness." Then, the Blessed One said to the monks: "Monks, you should recite, uphold, and memorize the Dharma spoken starting from the previous lineage of the Sakyas. Why is that? Monks, the Dharma spoken starting from the previous lineage of the Sakyas is meaningful, in accordance with the Dharma, and conducive to the Brahmacarya. Monks, a son of good family who has gone forth in faith should hear and read the Dharma spoken starting from the previous lineage of the Sakyas." Then, the Sakyas of Kapilavastu were delighted by what the Blessed One had said, rejoiced, and bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One, the Blessed One...

Emerging from the presence of... At that time, in the place of Serkya city, a king named Lion Jaw (Seng-ge-gram) began to rule. Prosperous, flourishing, peaceful, with good harvests, and filled with people and multitudes. There was no fighting, quarreling, debating, competing, or thievery, and illnesses were completely pacified. Rice, sugarcane groves, cattle, and buffaloes were abundant, and he ruled the kingdom like cherishing an only child. In the city of Lhas-ten, a king named Well-Awakened (Legpar-rab-sad) began to rule. The queen of King Well-Awakened was a virtuous woman, beautiful in form, pleasing to behold, lovely, and the fairest in the land, named Lumbini. In Lhas-ten, there lived a wealthy householder, rich in possessions and great in enjoyment, possessing vast and extensive holdings, endowed with the wealth of the son of Vaishravana, and rivaling Vaishravana in wealth. His garden was abundant with flowers, abundant with fruits, abundant with water, and filled with the sounds of various birds, so that his garden was like a delightful playground. The king would often come there with the queen's retinue and enjoy joyful games. Lumbini, seeing this, developed a desire and said, "O god, please grant me this garden." The king said, "But this garden belongs to the householder, how can I give it to you? If you need a garden, I will make another one that is even better for you." Then King Well-Awakened had a garden built for Lumbini that was even more excellent, and its name became Lumbini Grove. King Lion Jaw had long been thinking, "Alas, how wonderful it would be if a Chakravartin were to arise in my lineage!"
