My tiny worm called "Fond of Sleep" is only the size of a speck of sunlight. It manifestly flows in all the channels that are not occupied, that is, between the joints and the divinities, between the lumps of flesh, between the skull of the head, between the bones of the cheeks, between the roots of the teeth, between the necks, between the pipes of the throat, between the ears, between the eyes, between the noses, and between the hairs and the beards, it flows like the wind. That worm fond of sleep, when does it become sickly and also weary during the day? It becomes completely attached to the root of the heart at night. The lotus shape of the heart appears during the day. At night it shrinks, because there is no sunlight. At that time, the heart becomes completely shrunken. Therefore, the lotus shape of the heart shrinks. It also becomes unobstructed. At what time, when the worm fond of sleep becomes unindustrious, at that time, the senses become weary in their own realms and take a rest. It causes all those creatures to fall asleep. Even the day may be shortened. This worm fond of sleep, truly discerns and abides separately. Furthermore, when the yoga practitioner abides looking after the body on the body of the inner self, he sees through the wisdom born from hearing, or through what is seen by the divine eye, a worm called "large worm" that thoroughly abides in my body, flowing in the blood of the head and neck, and also flowing between the fats. When it becomes minute in any place and drinks my bloods, in those very places the body becomes swollen and also does digging and destroying, whether it is in the place of my lips, or in the place of the hair, or in the place of the back of the neck, or in other places. If it does not flow, then it abides between the tendons. It will not cause those diseases that were spoken of before to arise. Any... of the village of Lati...

Brahmins and, householders these as well as, yogi practitioners, even monks, as long as they are types of worms that closely infest the body, those that enter the throat, those that enter the tongue, those that enter the back of the neck, those that enter the pores of the hair, those that enter the phlegm, those that enter the bones, those that enter the blood, those that enter the tendons, will also be seen as they truly are. Will become fully aware. Those that belong to the tongue, those that have become tastes, will become free from desire for this. Obstacles to this taste, also obstacles arising from the elements, will be utterly destroyed. Venerable Ananda, this is the ocean of tastes of sentient beings bound by the universal bond of obstacles, therefore from among those, this will become free from desire. When he becomes free from desire, he will not be bound by those obstacles that have become food. He will not wander in the homes of donors and benefactors, nor will he become a servant. Wealth and necessities are not very abundant. Even a small amount of barley and bean soup will be enough to be content. He will not harbor strong hatred towards others because of gains and honors. He will not particularly enjoy gatherings that assemble together. Not luxurious temples and gardens. He will not become fat from the fatness of the body. He will not become fat from the fatness of appearance. Not fat from clothes. Not fat from the begging bowl. Not fat from the Dharma robes. Not fat from holding on to monks who follow behind. Not the fatness of entering the village. Not fat from seeing relatives. Becoming solitary, not craving desires, without disturbance, those who have destroyed sins, are the abode of virtue, dwelling thoroughly. Dwelling thoroughly at the end of Nirvana. Therefore, those who have been led by the ocean of tastes, and those who manifest obstacles to the ocean of tastes, dwell thoroughly in the presence of Mara. Sorrow.
