When those beings are born, if that evil person does not kill them for the sake of sacrifice or out of greed for wealth, then after death he will fall into the evil realms, that is, among the hell beings. After being liberated from hell, he will be reborn as insects born from heat and moisture, such as bees and lice. Regarding the second place of rebirth, he understands with a view of the non-right path and extraordinary wisdom, and distinguishes them in an extremely detailed way. Then, that monk, through knowing the ripening of karmic fruits, observes the world of animals. He thinks: Through what kind of karma will beings be reborn as oviparous animals? Through observing with the knowledge gained from hearing, if someone has greatly pacified desire, hatred, and ignorance by attaining worldly meditation, but if hatred arises due to some cause, and destroys the (state of meditation) due to the fault of the mind, then after death he will fall into the evil realms, that is, among the hell beings. After being liberated from hell, he will be reborn as oviparous animals, such as vultures and crows. After being liberated from that, if he is reborn as a human with the same fate as humans, he will be seen to be always angry and fearful. Then, that monk, through knowing the ripening of karmic fruits, observes the world of animals. He thinks: Through what kind of karma will beings be reborn among viviparous animals? Through observing with the knowledge gained from hearing, if someone is attached to desire, copulates with an untamed cow, copulates with a bull, sets fire to forests, or engages in inappropriate sexual behavior, then after death he will fall into the evil realms, that is, among the hell beings. After being liberated from hell, he will be reborn as viviparous animals. After being liberated from that, if he is reborn as a human with the same fate as humans, he will be seen to be in accordance with that karma and cause, reborn as a hermaphrodite. In this way, that monk observed eleven kinds of animals. Then, he also observes the four kinds of food: coarse food, mental food, contact food, and consciousness food.

Furthermore, he contemplates the ripening of the fruits of the four kinds of food. He investigates with the wisdom arising from listening: If someone, in an evil manner, gives a mouthful of food to robbers, saying, 'Eat this and kill my enemy!' or if those who are corrupted by craving for food also kill in the same way, then upon death, they will be separated from their bodies, fall into evil destinies, and be born in the hells of sentient beings. Having been liberated from there, by the power of that karma, they will be born among animals that eat mouthfuls of food. For example: cows, buffaloes, donkeys, pigs, dogs, foxes, peacocks, yaks, horses, sheep, deer, goats, creatures Srimara, crows, vultures, swans, creatures Titibha, quails, creatures Rama, antelopes, creatures Kurangaga, does, creatures Kadambha, jewel-beaked birds, shangs shang te'u, snakes dwelling in thorny places, and countless others in cliffs and so on. Moreover, he thoroughly examines in various aspects and contemplates tactile food. Those born from eggs belong to the egg-born, and their origins are as follows: birds, aquatic creatures, those related to shrubs, those born from the seashore, those born in the ocean, nagas, snakes, burrowing creatures, and so on. Among those creatures, which ones will eat tactile food? The monk investigates this in detail. He investigates with the wisdom arising from listening: If someone thinks, 'I will give alms to others,' and gives with intention without speaking, then at the time of death, if he is born among animals due to karma to be experienced in other lifetimes, then by the power of that very karma of intention alone, he will see himself eating that tactile food. Then, for the monk, having understood the ripening of the fruits of karma, he contemplates the animal realm, that is, the third food called 'intention,' how do those sentient beings sustain themselves? He investigates with the wisdom arising from listening: For example, egg-born fish and female crocodiles.
