Now, those lustful individuals, upon seeing the form of women, grasp it as a sign, grasp it as an obvious indication. Therefore, they generate the basis of desire, the longing for desire, and the excessive attachment to desire, thus they will completely degenerate from all roots of virtue. All wise individuals will utterly abandon them. Because of not guarding body, speech, and mind, they will encounter all misdeeds. They do not see desire as a means of definite liberation and are fully associated with the three lower realms. At the time of death, they will be reborn among hell beings, animals, or hungry ghosts. There, due to the cause of desire, the condition of desire, and the basis of desire, they will experience rough, hot, and unbearable painful feelings for a long time. There, wise individuals, recognizing women and men, generate the perception of unattractiveness. They contemplate the absence of hair, skin, sinews, flesh, blood, bones, and a white human skull. They rely on it completely and meditate on it, practicing it many times. Just as with the form of a woman, so it is with the form of a man. Just as it is in front, so it is at a distance. Just as it is at a distance, so it is in front. Just as it is with others, so it is with oneself, contemplating and recognizing the white heap of bones, the absence of hair, skin, sinews, flesh, and blood. By practicing it many times, the mind will become extremely stable there. Having meditated and contemplated it extremely, this is the first complete severing of the stream of mental afflictions. Again, one should properly fix the mind on that very heap of bones. At the space between the eyebrows, one should focus one's mindfulness on something the size of a mustard seed and meditate on the mind. From the phrase "practicing it many times," until "the mind is extremely stable, having meditated and contemplated it extremely." Therefore, their mind is extremely tamed, their body is extremely tamed. How is the mind extremely tamed? It is that everything within everything is completely pacified.

. That is slightly attended to. That is slightly and correctly known. That is slightly focused upon. This is the second gate of Dharma, which is in accordance with calm abiding, cuts off the abyss of afflictions, and cuts off desire. How is the body extremely tamed? Likewise, when meditating, the inhalation and exhalation are pacified, neither causing them to enter nor causing them to exit. That body and mind are extremely tamed, following calm abiding, with cessation as the object. This is the third gate of Dharma, which has cessation as its object and cuts off the abyss of afflictions. Furthermore, whoever's mind is agitated, quickly becomes attuned to calm abiding, then at the crown of the head, in a place the size of a juniper fruit, he focuses his mind and meditates. He does this many times. There, he sees the gaps and meditates. He does this many times. There, he also grinds the bones, the size of grains of sand, into powder. He sees and gradually from the second, the third, until the entire skull is correctly seen as bone powder. He also correctly sees those being carried away by the wind, until everything is seen as emptiness. Therefore, the body being extremely tamed and the mind being extremely tamed, this is diligently striving for calm abiding, with cessation as the object, and the fourth gate of Dharma that cuts off the abyss of afflictions. Then, the venerable Kaundinya said this: Venerable Lord, what is it? Is it that the wisdom of the realm of conditioned things is incomplete, non-existent, is it the support of separation, the true boundary of the realm of space? Son of good family, it is so. The true boundary of the realm of conditioned things is like space, this is to enter where the truth is seen by oneself. All-knowing Kaundinya asked: Venerable Lord, is space self-knowing? Or is it skilled at entering the knowledge of others? The Blessed One replied: Because of entering the realm of all dharmas, therefore all self-knowing of the realm of conditioned things
