Being content with one's own possessions, not coveting the wealth of others, being content with the lineage of the noble ones after ordination, cultivated qualities, and reducing possessions; these are the four. Sons of the gods, these four are the giving of the Bodhisattvas. What are the four? Giving Dharma, giving material goods, giving paper, ink, pens, and scriptures, and giving the word "Excellent!" from the depths of one's heart to the one who speaks the Dharma; these are the four. Sons of the gods, these four are the essence of the Bodhisattvas. What are the four? Diligence from listening is the essence, giving from possessions is the essence, serving the Lama from the body is the essence, and generating roots of virtue from life is the essence; these are the four. Sons of the gods, these four are what the Bodhisattvas should not abandon. What are the four? One should not abandon the mind of Bodhichitta, one should not abandon the sacred Dharma, one should not abandon sentient beings, and one should not abandon the complete search for all virtuous root dharmas; these are the four. Sons of the gods, these four are the gardens of the Bodhisattvas. What are the four? Abiding in solitude, rejoicing in secluded places, desiring virtuous dharmas, and skillfully ripening sentient beings; these are the four. Sons of the gods, these four are the immeasurable palaces of the Bodhisattvas. What are the four? The abode of Brahma, experiencing joy in listening to meaningful Dharma talks, contemplating emptiness with certainty, and gathering with like-minded people; these are the four. Sons of the gods, these four are the inexhaustible wealth of the Bodhisattvas. What are the four? The wealth of listening, the wealth of teaching the Dharma, the wealth of gathering impoverished sentient beings, and the wealth of completely dedicating to Bodhi; these are the four. These are the treasures that are completely dedicated to wisdom. These are the four. These four sons of gods are the manifestations of the Bodhisattvas. What are the four? Arising from turmoil, arising from all realms, arising from non-holy thoughts, and arising from all three realms. These are the four. These four sons of gods are the happiness of the Bodhisattvas. What are the four? Because one does not look at all things, it is the happiness of being without self and without clinging, the happiness of solitude by abandoning realms, the happiness of peace because there are no afflictions, and the happiness of nirvana because one does not abandon all sentient beings. These are the four. These four sons of gods are the supreme joy of the Bodhisattvas. What are the four? Seeing the Tathagata is supreme joy, hearing the Dharma is supreme joy, giving without regret is supreme joy, and giving happiness to all sentient beings is supreme joy. These are the four. These four sons of gods are the truth of the Bodhisattvas. What are the four? Not abandoning the mind of enlightenment, not degenerating from the chosen deity, not abandoning those who have taken refuge, and because of the restraint of speech, all words are truth. These are the four. These four sons of gods are the virtuous Dharma of the Bodhisattvas. What are the four? Combining all virtuous Dharmas with a superior thought, not despising all the unlearned, becoming a spiritual friend to all sentient beings without being asked, and not expecting a return because there is no expectation of doing anything in return for accomplishing all qualities. These are the four. These four sons of gods are the pure conduct of the Bodhisattvas. What are the four? Because of no-self, morality is pure, because there are no sentient beings, samadhi is pure, because there is no life, wisdom is pure, and because there is no person, liberation is pure. These are the four. These four sons of gods are the feet of the Bodhisattvas. What are the four? The foot of Dharma, the foot of meaning, and the foot of practice.
