When I, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, am thoroughly training and learning the perfection of the first dhyana, I know the limbs of dhyana, and truly transcend the desire realm, possessing five limbs and abandoning five limbs, manifestly playing with the four legs of miraculous power, making offerings and showing respect to all those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and being skilled in going with the force of lightning to all Buddha-fields for the sake of hearing the sacred Dharma, drying up the three paths of sentient beings, namely the path of karma, the path of affliction, and the path of suffering, perfecting the objects of merit arising from meditation, perfecting the perfection of dhyana, and being able to perfect the six perfections, and quickly manifestly awakening to unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, what is it like? In this auspicious ritual, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva first directs the mind to all the objects of the characteristics of inhalation and exhalation. He inhales with an undistracted mind. He exhales. He who initially eliminates with the mind of inhalation, that is his discrimination. When it definitely arises, he who eliminates with the mind of exhalation, that is his investigation. In him, whatever is joy and satisfaction, whatever is one-pointedness of mind, whatever is non-distraction, therefore he abides in definite arising and possesses a mind that abandons discrimination and investigation. Thus, there he obtains the first dhyana with discrimination and investigation. These signs arise in him: his whole body trembles and becomes warm. Here, he abandons the obscuration of desire's longing. He suppresses all non-virtuous dharmas. When he abides, attending with fierce effort, therefore his discrimination and investigation are pacified, therefore, discrimination

He obtained the second dhyana, which is without investigation. In that way, his whole body becomes very calm, happy, and satisfied, just like the pleasure experienced when soft milk is poured all over the body at once. He knows that he has become like this, and he knows that he possesses such undefiled joy and happiness. After that Bodhisattva obtained faith in the Three Jewels, he thought: "For the benefit of all sentient beings, after donning great armor, I must also strive in meditation, and I must abandon the happiness of body and mind in any way possible." That Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices breathing, abandoning the objects of the mind. He focuses his mind on the tip of his nose, and with the mind abiding in inhalation and exhalation, he closely observes the entering and the निश्चित coming out. He closely observes the momentary destruction, arising, and ceasing of that mind. He realizes that all of the mind, intellect, consciousness, aggregates, elements, and sense bases are like a reflection of the moon in water, an eye disease, a mirage, like lightning, without an owner, and that everything possesses momentary destruction. In that way, he completely abandons joy and happiness, and there he also obtains the third dhyana. Where those dharmas increase, he perfects the fourth dhyana with a mind of attention to cessation and abides. These signs arise for him: even when he closes both eyes, he correctly sees appearances like a great light of the sun. He thinks: "Due to the power of the signs, because of the appearance, the aggregates, elements, sense bases, afflictions, and near afflictions of all sentient beings are increasing and burning, so I must abandon the appearance of the objects of the mind of attention in any way possible." There, his feelings, perceptions, thoughts, and whatever contact arises from attention, all become completely pacified in the manner of arising and ceasing, and cessation, and he completely possesses the city of cessation.

I also cause someone to be purified. That which is done by body, speech, and mind is extremely practiced and dwells in it. Again, it arises from that. Or, one holds the signs of inhalation and exhalation, and also makes close examination of the signs by applying tactile attention. Also, one enters into the Samadhi of emptiness, or one also truly sees the objects of the signs of the arising and ceasing of inhalation and exhalation. Also, one abides in the aspiration Samadhi, or one also truly sees the pacification and cessation of inhalation and exhalation. Abiding in the signless Samadhi, likewise, the cultivation of the four mindfulnesses is also completely perfected. In that, the cultivation of the three doors of liberation is also completely perfected, or one does not reproach inhalation and exhalation, and also makes close examination by focusing on the manner of destruction. In that, the cultivation of the four right abandonments is also completely perfected, or one also makes close examination of the signs of the arising and ceasing of inhalation and exhalation. In that, the cultivation of the four legs of miraculous power is also completely perfected, or one also makes close examination of one's own body as if grinding it into powder like the dust of sunlight, focusing on the signs of inhalation and exhalation. In that, the cultivation of the five faculties is also completely perfected, or one also makes close examination of the three formations in the manner of the arising and ceasing of inhalation and exhalation. In that, the cultivation of the five powers is also completely perfected, or one also distinguishes the aggregates as peaceful and nearly peaceful by means of the sign of the feeling of inhalation and exhalation, in a clear manner. Likewise, the cultivation of the seven branches of enlightenment is also completely perfected, or by applying attention to the yoga of the wind of inhalation and exhalation, all that appears as the earth element and form is pulverized into dust and destroyed, signless, without remainder, unspeakable, without characteristics, without discrimination, the three formations are peaceful, nearly peaceful, ceased, object.
