The earth said: Son of good family, here some monks, nuns, laymen, and laywomen, who think of the unarisen and unmanifested dharmas as impure, and who think of impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness, all those who are like that should be regarded in the same way. Do not say that I am practicing the path for those foolish people, for they are called those who have entered the wrong path. Son of good family, for example, in a dream while sleeping, a person sees the king's consort in his own house and sleeps with her. Because of losing his memory, he thinks, 'I will be killed.' The king has not noticed. He thinks, 'He will come to kill me,' and therefore he is afraid and frightened and runs away. What do you think of this? Will that person, because he is afraid and frightened and runs away, be able to escape from the fear of the king's consort? He replied: Blessed One, no. Why is that? Blessed One, because that person has generated the concept of a woman for a woman who does not exist, this is for the sake of completely imputing what is not true. The Blessed One said: Son of good family, here some monks, nuns, laymen, and laywomen, who generate the concept of desire for those without desire, and are afraid of the fear of desire, and thus seek to completely escape from desire. Similarly, they generate the concept of hatred for those without hatred, and generate the concept of delusion for those without delusion, and are afraid of the fear of delusion, and thus seek to completely escape from delusion, all those who are like that should be regarded in the same way. Do not say that I am practicing the path for those foolish people, for they are called those who have entered the wrong path. Son of good family, for example, just as a person fabricates something that does not exist, and thus generates the concept of fear for what is not fearful, similarly, son of good family, ordinary people, because they do not understand the limit of desire, are afraid of the fear of the limit of desire, and thus seek to completely escape from the limit of desire. As for the limit of hatred, they do not understand the limit where there is no limit, and therefore they are afraid of the fear of the limit of hatred.

Also, one should completely seek to arise definitively from the extreme of non-existence! Not understanding the extreme of delusion as the extreme of emptiness, and being frightened by the fear of the extreme of delusion, one seeks to arise definitively from the extreme of emptiness! I will not say, "I meditate on the path for those foolish people," for those are called those who have entered wrongly. Son of good family, for example, a certain person sets out on a road at noon on the last day of the summer month, and being troubled by the heat, becomes exhausted, thirsty, and parched, and becomes very endowed with the power of discernment. He sees a great stream of mirage water flowing in a wilderness monastery. He discerns there in this way: "Until I return home, I will not drink this water for a while." Then he abandons the mirage and goes to his own home. Having gone to his own home, he thinks, "I saw water when I was thirsty, but I abandoned it without drinking it. I have done something wonderful! I have done something supremely wonderful!" If he repeatedly says this intentionally. Son of good family, what do you think? Is there anything wonderful in the fact that the person did not drink the water that is neither existent nor non-existent and abandoned it? They replied: "Bhagavan, that is not so!" Why is that? "Bhagavan, there is no water there, nor is there anything to be called water. Bhagavan, that person is deluded in the perception of no water. He discerns to abandon the water, and generates untrue joy and supreme joy, and is satisfied with that joy." The Bhagavan said: "Son of good family, here some monks, nuns, laymen, and laywomen, not understanding the words of the Tathagata's intention, in order to completely abandon the mind of stinginess, generate the perception of giving without giving, and discern what does not exist, and generate untrue joy and supreme joy, thinking, 'We have eliminated the mind of stinginess,' and are satisfied with that joy. In order to completely abandon the mind of immoral discipline, they generate the perception of discipline without discipline, and discern what does not exist, and generate untrue joy and supreme joy,
