in between, connect as before. Whether it be a son or daughter of good family, upon hearing that name, they shall become irreversible from unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, and they shall also be embraced so that all afflicting emotions that draw near shall be exhausted. Young man, from this Buddha-field, in the upward direction, after countless, immeasurable, inconceivable, and unmeasurable Buddha-fields have passed, there exists a world called Moon. Young man, if asked how many immeasurable Buddha-fields must pass to reach that world called Moon, it is like this: if this three-thousand great thousand world system were completely filled with sand up to the peak of existence, and then someone were to take one grain of sand from that sand and place one grain of sand in each Buddha-field in the upward direction, in such a way that all the sand would be completely exhausted and reach its end in the upward direction, even then, the measure or boundary of those Buddha-fields could not be known; after so many countless, immeasurable, inconceivable Buddha-fields have passed, there exists that world called Moon. That world is as flat as the palm of a hand, well-adorned with the seven precious substances, situated on a golden ground, painted with patterns like the eyes of peacocks, well-adorned with precious trees, without sentient beings in hells, places of animals, hungry ghosts, and assemblies of asuras, without grass, dry wood, thorns, stones, gravel, and pebbles, without ravines and precipices, scattered with flower petals. There, the Thus-Gone One, the Arhat, the Perfectly and Completely Awakened Buddha, named Wealth and Auspiciousness, now dwells, lives, and exists, surrounded by Bodhisattvas, gazed upon by Bodhisattvas, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Gone to Bliss, Knower of the World, the unsurpassed Tamer of Beings, the Teacher of Gods and Humans, the Buddha, the Bhagavan, possessing the thirty-two marks of a great being.

Adorned with the two excellent marks, like well-refined and well-tempered gold, like well-arranged jewels, thus beautifully dwelling among the retinue, teaching the Dharma that is good in the beginning, good in the middle, and good in the end. Thus also he teaches, 'Thus, without the earth element, there is no change.' Likewise, the water element, the fire element, the wind element, the lord of beings Brahma, form, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, without them, there is no change, thus he teaches. Whether son of good family or daughter of good family, hearing their names, they will not turn back from the unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, and will also attain the unsurpassed precious Dharma. Young one, thus, whether son of good family or daughter of good family, the conduct of the Thus-Gone One, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened One, endowed with perfect qualities, perfect wisdom, discipline, concentration, wisdom, liberation, and the perfect vision of the wisdom of liberation, hearing their names, they will not turn back from the unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. Young one, in the past, in a time long ago, more countless than countless eons, in that immeasurable past, there was an eon called 'Treasure Source.' At that time, a Thus-Gone One, an Arhat, a Perfectly Awakened One, endowed with knowledge and conduct, a Sugata, a Knower of the World, a Tamer of Beings, an unsurpassed being, a Teacher of Gods and Humans, a Buddha, a Bhagavan named 'Ocean Glory' appeared in the world. At that time, these ten Thus-Gone Ones, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones, all together harmoniously generated roots of virtue. With various kinds of food, drink, edibles, and lickables, and with immeasurable and countless flowers, incense, garlands, ointments, umbrellas, banners, and flags, they made great offerings to that Bhagavan, and all together harmoniously generated the unsurpassed, perfect, complete mind of enlightenment.

Having generated (bodhi)citta, all of them, in one day, in one instant, one moment, one short while, obtained forbearance of the unarisen dharma. Then, they gradually practiced the conduct of bodhisattvas, and having completely perfected the dharmas that are in accordance with the path to enlightenment, in one instant, one moment, one short while, in their respective buddha-fields, they manifested and completely awakened to the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. In one instant, one moment, one short while, they turned the wheel of dharma. The lifespan of all of them is also the same. Young man, all those Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas, will also, in one day, in one instant, one moment, one short while, completely pass into nirvana. Having spoken thus, in the presence of the Blessed One, the son of King Embodied Heart, the boy Jewel Moon, spoke thus: Blessed One, the lifespan of those Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas is truly wondrous! Blessed One, those Tathagatas have manifested such a long lifespan for the sake of compassion for sentient beings! Blessed One, furthermore, whether it be a son of good family or a daughter of good family, if they believe in and do not abandon or discard this lifespan of those Tathagatas, how much merit will be generated? The Blessed One said: Young man, this three-thousand great thousand world realm, and those buddha-fields of those ten Tathagatas, and those ten buddha-fields, are filled with the seven precious jewels of the gods, and they offer charity to the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas in this way for countless eons. If a son of good family or a daughter of good family hears these names and these lifespans, and believes in them in this way, without abandoning or slandering them, but rejoices and agrees with them, then the previous accumulation of merit will not even equal one percent of that accumulation of merit.
