He went to the great city of Rajagriha for alms. At that time, the son of King Rupakaya, a boy named Jewel Moon, riding on an elephant called Eight-Handed, which was adorned with the seven precious things and covered with a golden net, with tinkling bells hanging, decorated with many silk canopies adorned with gold, fumigated with incense, scattered with flowers, with banners and flags raised, adorned with umbrellas and fences, beautified with precious trees, and surrounded by seven platforms, possessed great royal wealth and great royal power. He came forth from the great city of Rajagriha, giving alms to all sentient beings. From afar, the youth Jewel Moon saw the Blessed One, beautiful, worthy of faith, with subdued senses, a subdued mind, endowed with the supreme and excellent color, the best of the tamed and the peaceful, having gone beyond the tamed and the peaceful, the great lord, guarding the senses, subduing the senses, like a sea, clear and bright and without turbidity, possessing the thirty-two marks of a great man, his body adorned with the eighty excellent marks, standing like a golden stupa, shining with the supreme glory, radiant, and resplendent as he walked. Having seen him, his mind became faithful. Having become faithful, he quickly descended from the elephant and went to where the Blessed One was, and having arrived, he prostrated at the feet of the Blessed One, circumambulated the Blessed One three times, and then sat down on one side. With reverence and respect, Sitting on one side, the son of King Rupakaya, the boy Jewel Moon, bowed with folded palms towards where the Blessed One was, and spoke thus to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, please tell us, for any son or daughter of good family who has faith, what merit there is in hearing the names of the ten Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas of the ten directions, such that they will become irreversible from unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment." Please tell us, Blessed One. Please tell us, Sugata. So he said.

Having thus requested, the Blessed One said to the son of King Firm Heart, the youth Jewel Moon: "Well done, well done! Young man, it is excellent that you have set your mind to benefit many people, to bring happiness to many people, to have compassion for the world, for the sake of the great mass of beings, to benefit and bring happiness to gods and humans, and to gather all the bodhisattvas, great beings, of the present and future. Young man, it is excellent that you intend to ask the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened Buddha about this matter. Young man, your request is good and your boldness is virtuous. Therefore, young man, listen well and carefully, and keep it in mind, and I will tell you. Listen with one-pointed attention, gather your mind and contemplate, and I will tell you that meaning." Then the son of King Firm Heart, the youth Jewel Moon, said to the Blessed One, "Well done!" and listened as the Blessed One instructed. The Blessed One said to him: "Young man, from this Buddha-field, going east, after passing countless, immeasurable, infinite, inconceivable, and unquantifiable Buddha-fields, there is a world called 'Without Sorrow.' If you ask, 'How many immeasurable Buddha-fields must one pass to reach the world called 'Without Sorrow'?' Young man, for example, if this three-thousand-great-thousand world system were filled entirely with sand up to the peak of existence, and then someone were to take each grain of sand from that sand and place one grain of sand in each Buddha-field to the east, in that way, even if all the sand were completely exhausted and used up in the east, one could not know the measure or limit of those Buddha-fields. After passing such countless, immeasurable, and infinite Buddha-fields, there is that world called 'Without Sorrow.' That world is as flat as the palm of a hand and well-adorned with the seven precious substances.
