Having seen. After seeing, he went to where the Blessed One was, and after arriving, he circumambulated the Blessed One three times. He bowed his head to the feet of the Blessed One and sat down on one side. After sitting down on one side, Brahma, the lord of the Saha world, said to the Blessed One: "If, after asking, for the sake of prophesying what is asked, the Blessed One would grant me an opportunity, then I would like to ask the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha, about some aspects." After he said this, the Blessed One said to Brahma, the lord of the Saha world: "Brahma, for the sake of prophesying what is asked, the Tathagata always gives you an opportunity. Brahma, ask the Tathagata whatever you desire, and by prophesying what is asked, I will satisfy your mind." Then, because the Blessed One gave him the opportunity, Brahma, the lord of the Saha world, said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, with how many qualities do Bodhisattvas, great beings, possess in order to quickly awaken to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment?" After he said this, the Blessed One said to Brahma, the lord of the Saha world: "Brahma, if Bodhisattvas, great beings, possess one quality, they will quickly awaken to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. What is that one quality? It is mindfulness directed towards the body. Brahma, what is the mindfulness directed towards the body like for a Bodhisattva? Brahma, in this case, the Bodhisattva has the mindfulness of going, and knows it as it truly is. He has the mindfulness of returning, and knows it as it truly is. He has the mindfulness of lying down, the mindfulness of getting up, the mindfulness of walking, and the mindfulness of sitting, and knows it as it truly is. He dwells alone in solitude, focusing his mind inwardly, and with an undisturbed mind, he contemplates this very body, thinking: Alas, this body is unstable, impermanent, and its nature is

Weak, without essence, unreal, of the nature of scattering, of the nature of destruction, arising dependently, like an illusion, like a dewdrop, unsteady, impure, with the smell of pus, ultimately exhausted by wind and sun, ultimately subdued, ultimately turning into dust, ultimately becoming vomit, full of diseases, harmful, full of contagious diseases, sick, of the nature of destruction, a collection of bones, smelly, leaking, one should diligently make offerings, and with correct mindfulness, examine each one as it is. Thus, with correct mindfulness, knowing the faults of the body as they are, one will not generate attachment to the body, will not generate universal desire for the body, and will not consider the body to be self. He does not observe the body, so he will not generate attachment to life, will not generate universal desire for life, and will not consider life to be self. Not observing the body and life, he is content with only worn-out Dharma robes, coarse food, simple bedding and cushions, and medicine and utensils for treating illnesses. He empties those actions of those who practice the same Brahmacharya, whether they are meaningful or virtuous, he does not feel weary, he does not feel discouraged, and he does not generate a weary mind. If he goes to the Khenpo and Acharya, he should be mindful and think: The Khenpos are difficult to approach. The Acharyas are difficult to approach. If I go there, if I am blamed and remembered by the Khenpo and Acharya for some sinful and unwholesome actions, that would not be good. Therefore, with that cause, that condition, that basis, he will respectfully treat the trainings, and become disciplined, virtuous, peaceful, and completely thorough. Therefore, by respecting the trainings, being disciplined, doing good, being peaceful, and being completely thorough, when he goes to the Khenpo and Acharya, he will go without fear, without shrinking, and will not be afraid.

, and does not show coarse language that arises together. Why is that? Because it is respectful and honorific, and like a noble daughter-in-law, it possesses restraint. Therefore, because it possesses restraint, it completely abandons all faults of the body and wrongdoings of the body. Brahma, what are the faults of the body and wrongdoings of the body of a Bodhisattva? Brahma, killing is a fault of the body and a wrongdoing of the body of a Bodhisattva. Brahma, taking what is not given and unchaste conduct are faults of the body and wrongdoings of the body of a Bodhisattva. Brahma, how does a Bodhisattva abandon killing? Brahma, here, a Bodhisattva does not kill living beings due to the power of desire. He does not kill living beings due to the power of hatred and the power of ignorance. He perceives other sentient beings and other individuals as being just like himself, and perceives them as being just like suffering. He himself does not kill other sentient beings and other individuals. He does not allow others to kill. He does not rejoice in others killing. He himself does not strike. He does not allow others to strike. He does not rejoice in others striking. How does one abandon taking what is not given? Brahma, here, a Bodhisattva does not develop attachment to the means of livelihood of sentient beings, such as gold, jewels, pearls, vaidurya, conch shells, manah-shila, coral, salisbram, silver, etc., as well as various forms of clothing and ornaments, wealth, grain, storehouses, and forms of happiness. He does not discriminate against them, and he does not steal or plunder. He does not allow stealing or plundering. He does not rejoice in those who steal or plunder. Whether it is in a city or in a monastery, he does not
