Then they descended from there, mixed with the sounds of musical instruments and songs, and offered their respects, saying to him: Please accept the enthronement and become king! He said: How can someone like me be fit to be king? They said: You are a person of meritorious deeds, do not say such things, you must become king without hesitation. He said: So be it. Then they made him place his foot on the footstool of the bed, made him sit on a good cushion, increased everything auspicious and enthroned him, adorned him with ornaments such as headdresses and silk scarves, raised a large umbrella on top of the chariot, erected a handle made of gold, waved jeweled yak tail whisks, and praised in unison: May the gods be victorious! Victory! Then they led him to the king's palace in procession. Then, the wheel that turned the king's chariot cut off the head of a sleeping poor man. Then, that person of meritorious deeds also ascended to the throne. His kingdom was also filled with plague and disease and disasters, wealth and prosperity, peace and good harvests, people and many people. By the name of the king, all virtues were fully endowed, and enjoying all kinds of pleasures, he thought: Whose power is this? How did my kingdom come to possess such good fortune? After remembering correctly, he also sent a messenger to the Blessed One, saying: Blessed One, for the sake of compassion for us and many other sentient beings, please come here. After sending the messenger, between the prince's victory garden and his own home, all the roads leading to the Blessed One were swept clean, sprinkled, spread with flowers, and erected with umbrellas, victory banners, flags, and horse resting places, and incense was burned with incense burners, and they were adorned. That king, along with the city's people and villagers, as well as ministers, officials, gatekeepers, and a retinue of attendants, welcomed him. He offered immeasurable offerings of flowers, incense, garlands, unguents, and powders soaked in perfume to the feet of the Blessed One, and prostrated with his whole body to the feet of the community of monks. Then, together with his retinue, with great reverence and affection for the master, he invited the Blessed One to go to his own home, which was adorned with all kinds of jewels and surrounded by a great garden. There, for seven days, he served them with all the means of comfort. After that, the king offered food to the Blessed One, and knowing that the Blessed One had finished using the bowl, in order to listen to the Dharma, he sat with his servants before the Blessed One, and said: "Blessed One, I am lowly and poor, from where does my kingdom and perfection come?" The Blessed One replied: "Great King, in the great city of Shravasti, there was a great benefactor named Spobpa Lodrö. At some time in the past, he offered food to the community of monks including the Buddha in his own home. After that, two suffering people came there, as before, until 'one of their heads was cut off by your chariot wheel.' That person died and was reborn in the hell realm. The head of that person born there grows in every instant, and then is cut off by a burning iron wheel. He will also be liberated from there after countless eons. You have obtained the glory of a king because you once made the aspiration: 'May I become such a person and offer food to the community of monks including the Buddha for seven days.' Your wish has also been fulfilled. From then on, you will obtain extremely excellent perfections in all countless lifetimes. Then, at that time, the Blessed One spoke these verses:
