Thus. Therefore, one should completely abandon gains and offerings. Shariputra, furthermore, if a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva possesses four qualities, he will obtain this dharani. What are the four? They are as follows: One should comprehend the meaning of the eight syllables. What are those eight? They are as follows: The syllable "pa" (藏文:པ་,梵文天城体:प,梵文罗马拟音:pa,汉语字面意思:帕) signifies comprehending that in ultimate reality, all phenomena are without self. The syllable "la" (藏文:ལ་,梵文天城体:ल,梵文罗马拟音:la,汉语字面意思:拉) signifies comprehending the marks and excellent signs, and without marks and excellent signs, entering into the Dharmakaya of the Tathagata. The syllable "va" (藏文:བ་,梵文天城体:व,梵文罗马拟音:va,汉语字面意思:哇) signifies comprehending that the phenomena of children and the phenomena of the wise are, as they are, non-dual. The syllable "ja" (藏文:ཛ་,梵文天城体:ज,梵文罗马拟音:ja,汉语字面意思:扎) signifies comprehending birth, aging, and death, and without birth, aging, and death, beings do not arise and do not cease. The syllable "ka" (藏文:ཀ་,梵文天城体:क,梵文罗马拟音:ka,汉语字面意思:嘎) signifies comprehending the ripening of karma and the absence of the ripening of karma. The syllable "dha" (藏文:ངྷ་,梵文天城体:ध,梵文罗马拟音:dha,汉语字面意思:达) signifies comprehending the aspects of dharani teachings: emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, and entering into the Dharmadhatu. The syllable "sha" (藏文:ཤ་,梵文天城体:श,梵文罗马拟音:sha,汉语字面意思:夏) signifies comprehending shamatha and vipashyana, and without shamatha and vipashyana, entering into the suchness of all phenomena. The syllable "ksha" (藏文:ཀྵ་,梵文天城体:क्ष,梵文罗马拟音:ksha,汉语字面意思:叉) signifies comprehending that all phenomena are momentary, and from the beginning are peaceful, therefore without exhaustion, without fear, without going, and all phenomena enter into Nirvana. Thus, comprehending the meaning of those eight syllables is the first comprehension of meaning. Writing down well and retaining this dharani teaching is the second comprehension of meaning. Reading and recollecting this dharani teaching constantly every half month, striving for this is the third comprehension of meaning. A Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who strives diligently in this dharani teaching should strive to make all sentient beings truly rejoice, truly uphold, and truly praise. This is the fourth comprehension of meaning. Shariputra, a Bodhisattva

If one possesses these four great heroisms, one will obtain this dharani. Then, the Bhagavan spoke these verses at that time: These eight letters should be contemplated. This sutra should be written and held. Twice a month, it should be constantly recited. Also, sentient beings should be induced to hold it. Wisdom is vast, close to Bodhi. All the Buddhas in the ten directions, wherever they reside, one will see them in front. Therefore, generate aspiration and learn this. Shariputra, these four are the benefits of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who diligently practices this dharani. What are the four? They are: all the Buddhas and Bhagavat in the ten directions remember him, the works of Mara will not occur to him, his karmic obscurations will be quickly purified, and uninterrupted eloquence will be quickly obtained. Shariputra, these four are the benefits of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who diligently practices this dharani. Then, the Bhagavan spoke these verses at that time: All the Buddhas remember him. Mara will not find his weakness. His karmic obscurations will be quickly purified. He will also obtain boundless eloquence. Shariputra, in the past, in the time of countless kalpas beyond countless kalpas, vast and expansive, immeasurable and innumerable, there appeared a Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, named Like a Jewel Glory Splendor King. Endowed with knowledge and conduct, Sugata, Knower of the World, Tamer of Men, Supreme, Teacher of Gods and Humans, Buddha, Bhagavan, appeared in the world. Shariputra, the Bhagavan, the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, Like a Jewel Glory Splendor King, at the time of his complete Nirvana, there appeared a Chakravartin King named Holder of Light, a lord of men possessing the seven precious things. His son was named Merit Jewel Inconceivable Splendor.

At that time, when he was sixteen years old, he heard this category of Dharma of the Dharani accomplished by the Door of Infinity from the Bhagavan, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Samyaksambuddha, like the King of Jewel Glory and Splendor. As soon as he heard this dharani, he strived to obtain it. For seventy thousand years, he was neither drowsy nor overwhelmed by sleep. He was never fond of kingship, wealth, or self. For seventy thousand years, he never put his feet on the ground, but remained steadfastly in inner samadhi. He heard the Dharma taught by ninety kotis of Buddhas, and having heard it, he retained it all. Having retained it, he went forth from the very presence of the Bhagavan, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Samyaksambuddha, like the King of Jewel Glory and Splendor. After he went forth, after ninety thousand years had passed, he accomplished this dharani accomplished by the Door of Infinity. Having accomplished it, he widely and correctly explained it to sentient beings. In that one lifetime, he caused eighty kotis of nayutas of hundreds of thousands of sentient beings to correctly enter into the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and placed them on the ground of non-retrogression. Shariputra, in that assembly, there was a merchant's son named Moon Crest. He heard this category of Dharma of the Dharani accomplished by the Door of Infinity from that Dharma-speaking monk. Having heard it, he rejoiced. From the root of virtue born from the moment of his rejoicing, he heard the Dharma taught by ninety kotis of Buddhas. Having heard it, he retained it all. In all ways, he became the best of those who obtained dharanis, the best of those who are eloquent, and the best of the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who have uninterrupted courage. For three kalpas, he pleased those Tathagatas, Arhats, Samyaksambuddhas. Having pleased them, after three kalpas had passed, he attained unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Shariputra, at that time, at that moment, the merchant
