Having heard of the intervening change, I, for all directions, my body is wounded. I am very ill, my body is weakened, there is no comfort, My mind is also weakened, there is no comfort, there is no comfort of detachment, How can I, who have eyes, be? My refuge and friends, And who is the guide of the world? In order to see today, but it is said that I cannot see, How should I say to the elders? Having become sorrowful, and suffering, How should I express sorrow? This great fear of us, How should those elders hear? Those disciples and beings, How can monks abide, pierced by the arrow of sorrow, pierced by all? I pray that the best of men stay in the world for an eon! Among the four assemblies, Saying that the teacher will pass into Nirvana, best of men, how should I say it? Great Sage, I pray that you stay in the world for an eon! In the great lamp world, It will fall very quickly, these worlds will quickly, become blind. Best of men, this serious illness of mine, I do not want to tell the monks, please order to send someone who does not have a serious illness. The Blessed One said: Son of Gautama, all conditioned phenomena are impermanent, let go, do not grieve! Then, the Blessed One at that time, again spoke in verse to the venerable Ananda: Limitless hundreds of thousands of gods, today hearing that the Buddha has passed away, Abandoning immeasurable palaces, grieving and weeping, wailing. After my passing, monks, do not let those who have not seen grieve, This is the work of service, go, and tell the monks as well. At that time, the venerable Mahakasyapa was dwelling on the summit of Mount Sumeru, teaching the Dharma to the gods of the Thirty-Three. The venerable Mahakasyapa, with his pure divine eye, far surpassing humans, saw those sons of gods, known to have great power, disappearing from their respective immeasurable palaces, and also heard the great sound of the gods wailing and weeping, and also saw his own retinue diminishing. Then, the venerable Mahakasyapa thought at that time, seeing with his divine eye those sons of gods and their retinues feeling dejected, abandoning their respective desired pleasures,

I looked around the world, where could I quickly dig and escape? Then, the Venerable Anuruddha saw the summit of Mount Sumeru, the king of mountains, falling off by a hundred yojanas, the summit of Mount Sumeru, the king of mountains, falling off by two hundred yojanas, the summit falling off by three hundred yojanas, the summit falling off by four hundred yojanas, and the summit falling off by five hundred yojanas, continuously falling and plunging into the great ocean, even without harming or violating any sentient beings, let alone causing a life-threatening danger. Like this, those summits of Mount Sumeru, the gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas who dwell relying on Mount Sumeru, the king of mountains, having heard that the Blessed One had entered parinirvana, were tormented by the pain of sorrow, (thinking) the Blessed One Shakyamuni, the king of the Shakyas, who has been truly practicing from countless kalpas, possessing extremely pure roots of virtue, today near Kushinagar, under the twin sala trees, will enter parinirvana without being invited, now the eye of the world with the gods will be closed. They all faced the city of Kushinagar, quickly shaking and digging, those who were quickly shaking, caused Mount Sumeru, the king of mountains, and the great ocean to also shake and become turbulent, therefore, the summits of Mount Sumeru, the king of mountains, all fell into the great ocean. Then, the Venerable Anuruddha, sitting on the summit of Mount Sumeru, at that time uttered a great sound, and spoke these verses: Who is the leader of the worlds? Who bestows happiness on the world? Who is the alms-place for sentient beings? The Sage enters nirvana today. The source of wisdom, destroying the darkness, Is the father and mother of the world's beings, Likewise, the refuge and the kinsman, O Sage!
