Da. These are the benefits of diligent meditation. Always making offerings to the Buddhas, one does not abandon the Dharma even for the sake of life, and always abides in extreme restraint. These are the benefits of diligent samadhi. Having attained the ground of extreme gentleness, one quickly manifests true knowledge. The flow of speech is uninterrupted and one is endowed with fearlessness. One teaches billions of sutras. One quickly grasps the enlightenment of the Buddhas, and the guides fully protect the teachings. One subdues all opposing adversaries, and also increases the enlightenment of the Buddhas. That Bodhisattva, having died and transmigrated, goes to the realm of Sukhavati. Having heard the excellent Dharma from Amitayus, one obtains forbearance of the unborn Dharma. The ninth chapter of the Noble King of Samadhi Sutra. Young Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who are dedicated to dwelling in solitary places have these ten benefits. What are the ten? They are: dwelling in few activities, abandoning even long periods of busyness, and therefore there is no dispute. Abiding in harmlessness, not increasing defilements, not being a source of dispute, practicing extreme tranquility, abiding in extreme restraint, becoming a mind-stream that is in accordance with liberation, and quickly realizing liberation. Young ones, these ten are the benefits of Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who are dedicated to dwelling in solitary places. To this it should be said: Always having few activities, also abandoning busyness, dwelling alone in the forest, there is no dispute for them. With a harmless mind, not increasing defilements, the source of dispute does not arise there, this is the merit of dwelling in solitude. Body, speech, and mind are well restrained, one practices tranquility, being in accordance with liberation, quickly realizing liberation. Yogis always have few activities, abandoning all the faults of much busyness, yogis never argue, these are the benefits of dwelling in solitude. When one becomes weary of conditioned things, and has no desire for anything in the world, defilements also do not increase.

Without interruption. There are these benefits to living in the forest. There will never be arguments there. Always liking peace, living a secluded life. Restraining body, speech, and mind. There are many benefits to living in a monastery. That is also in accordance with liberation. Living in the forest, relying on liberation. He will quickly realize the peaceful liberation. These are all the benefits of living in a monastery. The young Bodhisattva Mahasattva, the merit of practicing alms, the benefit of abiding in reducing necessities is these ten. What are the ten? For example: He does not want the benefit of knowledge, he does not want fame, he does not want gain and respect, he abides in the four noble lineages, he will become without pretense and flattery, he does not praise himself, nor does he slander others, he abandons attachment and anger, begs in other people's homes, gives the Dharma without material possessions, he abides in the merit of practice, reduces necessities, and will receive the teachings of the Dharma. These ten young ones are the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, the merit of practicing alms, the benefit of abiding in reducing necessities. To that, it should be said: Whoever abides in practice, does not want the benefit of knowledge, nor does he desire fame, the mind is the same whether gaining or not gaining. Whoever abides in practice, does not abandon the noble lineage, completely abandons pretense and flattery. Does not praise himself, nor does he slander others, without anger and attachment, speaks the Dharma without material possessions, his words will also be accepted. These are the merits of alms. Does not seek the benefit of knowledge, fame, and gain, will abide in the four noble lineages, the wise one is without pretense and flattery. This is the merit of diligent practice. Does not praise himself, nor does he slander others, even if harsh words are spoken, he will not become confused. Even if praise is heard, joy will not arise, he will be content with alms. Gives the Dharma without material possessions, that is gain.

I do not seek respect, therefore their words will also be received, these are the benefits of diligent practice. Young man, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who abides in such qualities of Dharma, abiding in solitude, will find the treasure of the Buddha, will find the treasure of the Dharma, will find the treasure of wisdom, will find the treasure of knowing the past, future, and present occurrences. Young man, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva find the treasure of the Buddha? Young man, here, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices in solitude, abiding in solitude, and attains five superknowledges. What are the five? They are: the divine eye, the divine ear, knowing the minds of others, remembering past lives, and the realm of miraculous powers. Young man, these five superknowledges will be attained. With the superhuman divine eye, he sees countless immeasurable Buddhas, Bhagavat, in the eastern direction. Similarly, he sees countless immeasurable Buddhas, Bhagavat, in the southern, western, and northern directions, and he will not be separated from seeing the Buddhas. Young man, thus a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva finds the treasure of the Buddha. Young man, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva find the treasure of the Dharma? Whatever Dharma those Buddhas, Bhagavat, teach in the ten directions, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva hears with the realm of the divine ear, and he will not be separated from hearing the Dharma. Young man, thus a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva finds the treasure of the Dharma. Young man, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva find the treasure of wisdom? Young man, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, endowed with that wisdom, holds all Dharmas, holding them all without forgetting, and teaches the Dharma to sentient beings, and also fully understands what the meaning of the Dharma is. Young man, thus a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva finds the treasure of wisdom. Young man, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva find the past, future, and
