Just as peaches and plums do not change their nature. These ten youths are the benefits of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva initiating diligence. Regarding this, it is said: Even what is difficult to approach becomes constant. Because there is no laziness in it, the gods also protect. One can quickly see the Buddhas. Wishes can be completely fulfilled, and one can obtain the kinds of samadhi. One will not get sick in it, this is the merit of having diligence. His food and drink can also be easily digested, without illness. Just like a lotus in the water, gradually grows. Similarly, the Bodhisattva will also be increased by the white Dharma. His days and nights will also be spent in having fruit. The Tathagata cultivates diligence through countless kalpas. The Bodhisattva has diligence, and these benefits are proclaimed. Therefore, initiating diligence, is taken care of by the Buddhas. The gods also generate longing for him, and quickly attain Buddhahood. His hearing will not decrease, and he can proclaim many other Dharmas. His courage will greatly increase, this is the benefit of initiating diligence. One can also quickly obtain the kinds of samadhi, and he will never get sick. Whatever food he eats, can be easily and completely digested. Without distraction, initiating diligence, the white aspect increases day and night. Therefore, due to having the power of diligence, one will not become a Buddha for long. Young men, the benefits of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva delighting in meditation are these ten. Which ten? It is like this: abiding in conduct, acting in the realm of conduct, abiding in complete freedom from suffering, the senses become concealed, experiencing joy, being separated from desire, not being satisfied with accumulating meditation, being liberated from the realm of Mara, being skilled in abiding in the realm of the Buddha, and making liberation completely mature. These ten youths are the benefits of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva delighting in meditation. Regarding this, it is said: Because he abides in conduct, he will not be without conduct. The yogi acts in the realm of conduct.

Conduct, abandoning the realm of non-conduct. Abiding there without suffering, it is to subdue the senses and conceal them. He is the enjoyer of joy, the realm of practice for meditation. Free from attachment to desire and craving, relying on the bliss of meditation, he escapes from the realm of Mara and abides in the realm of the Buddha. This is the distinction of yoga, delighting alone in the forest, fulfilling all liberation, it is the tenth place. The Bodhisattva abides in conduct, abandoning all that is not conduct, having abandoned non-conduct, he abides in conduct. These are the benefits of diligence in samadhi. Suffering never arises in him, having touched the bliss of the noble ones, body and mind also become blissful. These are the benefits of diligence in meditation. He is also protected and abides in solitary places, distraction never arises in him. Thus, because the body becomes solitary, he obtains unblemished joy there. He is not stained by desires and is without afflictions. Thus, because he is liberated from the realm of Mara, he dwells well in the realm of the Tathagatas, and his liberation will be fully matured. Young man! These are the ten benefits of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva's practice of wisdom. What are the ten? They are as follows: He gives away all possessions and does not pride himself on being pure through giving. He does not break the precepts and does not abide in the precepts. He abides in the power of patience and does not abide in perceiving beings as beings. He exerts diligence, and his body and mind are solitary. He meditates in meditation and is a non-abiding meditator. He is difficult for the Maras to overcome. He is not shaken by all opposing adversaries. He obtains light in all arising conditioned phenomena. He extensively generates great compassion for all beings and has no hope for the ground of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. He is skilled in entering the Buddha's meditation, samadhi, and samapatti. Young man! These ten are the benefits of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva's practice of wisdom. Therefore, it is said: The hero gives away all possessions, he is pure.
