And arranged were many exquisitely adorned boys and girls, holding drums, tuṇavas, single-stringed vīṇās, vīṇās, flutes, clay drums, cymbals, and large clay drums. On both sides of the road stood tall tāla trees, adorned with various divine jewels and nets of tinkling bells made of Jambū River gold, producing pleasant sounds. There were also countless banners of various jewels, and various kinds of seven-jeweled trees, thick and stout, with leaves for all seasons, and abundant flowers and fruits, all planted. Thus it is said: The road is adorned in various ways, exceedingly well. Banners, umbrellas, and flags are raised. The sounds of cymbals are emitted greatly. The sound of song is also pleasing, just so. Many women drum and dance, with countless kinds of fine clothes, and with garlands of flowers, good and beautiful. That excellent, wide road is greatly adorned. In this excellent, pure city, the compassionate one, the Buddha Śākyamuni, has arrived. The youth Moonlight, having generated great faith, greatly adorned the wide and spacious road. Pure sand of divine substance is spread, and excellent, supremely pleasing flowers are scattered. Precious horse-stirrups are also well placed. The road is beautiful, like a city of gods. The youth Moonlight, being exceedingly delighted, thus adorned the roads in various ways. Gods, asuras, and nāgas, seeing this, were amazed and exclaimed, "Alala!" On the right and left sides of the road, made of Jambū River gold, tall, beautiful, and round tāla trees, covered and entwined with nets of jeweled bells, many decorations producing various sounds were erected. Likewise, countless precious trees, with flowers blooming in all seasons, were planted. With these, the wide road was adorned and became beautiful, like a garden of joy in the high heavens. Banners made of jewels, clusters of nets blazing with light, exceedingly beautiful, unparalleled to see, large and flourishing, were erected and placed on the right and left sides of the road. The great road by which the Buddha, the lord of the three worlds, proceeded from wherever he was to the city of Rājagṛha, was thus exquisitely adorned.

Everything became beautiful in every way. Precious jewel vases were hung on the right. Those were filled with black agarwood. Smoke billowed from all the vases, gathering like clouds. Various kinds of divine fragrances arose. As long as there is the Hot Spring city gate and as long as there is Vulture Peak Mountain, Moonlight Youth, for the sake of victory, decorated it with unparalleled and vast divine objects. Then, Moonlight Youth, having decorated that road with various kinds of precious arrangements, Moonlight Youth descended from Vulture Peak Mountain and went to wherever the great city of Rajagriha (present-day Rajgir, Bihar) was, and to his own tall, large, and spacious divine abode, and having arrived, entered his own abode. Having entered, he had many excellent foods, drinks, and tastings prepared. Having prepared a hundred flavors of dishes, after that night had passed, the great city of Rajagriha (present-day Rajgir, Bihar) was thoroughly cleaned. Having thoroughly cleaned it, flowers were scattered. It was fumigated with incense. Banners were hung. Silk ribbons and garlands were hung. Umbrellas, victory banners, and flags were raised. Thus, the roads, streets, and alleys of the great city of Rajagriha (present-day Rajgir, Bihar) were made free of stones, tiles, and gravel. Various kinds of flowers were scattered. It was sprinkled with sandalwood powder. Windows, stables, all doors, balconies, lattice windows, were decorated with patterns and crescent-like ornaments, and anointed with sandalwood. Thus, the great city of Rajagriha (present-day Rajgir, Bihar) was thoroughly decorated with immeasurable arrangements. His own abode was also decorated with various kinds of ornaments. Various kinds of precious garlands were hung extensively. It was decorated with divine garments with Tushita Heaven patterns, and the surroundings were also made beautiful. He had various kinds of garlands and ribbons hung. He had countless precious cushions laid out, and for the purpose of making offerings to the Bhagavan, in the center of it, he arranged the Bhagavan's divine lion throne, which transcends the abilities of gods and humans. Various kinds of precious jewel vases were hung in the four directions, and from those, only the smoke of agarwood billowed.
