. Always diligent. Furthermore, if a son or daughter of good family correctly teaches this Dharma discourse and correctly explains it to others, they will possess those twelve hundred qualities of the ear. In the trichiliocosm, from the beings in the Avīci hell up to the peak of existence, all the various sounds, internal and external, such as the sound of elephants, the sound of horses, the sound of drums, the sound of cows, the sound of sheep, the sound of carts, the sound of weeping, the sound of sorrow, the sound of fear, the sound of conches, the sound of bells, the sound of drums, the sound of play, the sound of songs, the sound of music, the sound of men, the sound of women, the sound of boys, the sound of girls, the sound of Dharma, the sound of non-Dharma, the sound of happiness, the sound of suffering, the sound of children, the sound of noble ones, the sound of the pleasing, the sound of the displeasing, the sound of gods, the sound of nāgas, the sound of yakshas, the sound of gandharvas, the sound of asuras, the sound of garudas, the sound of kinnaras, the sound of mahoragas, the sound of humans, the sound of non-humans, the sound of fire, the sound of water, the sound of wind, the sound of villages, the sound of cities, the sound of monks, the sound of śrāvakas, the sound of pratyekabuddhas, the sound of bodhisattvas, the sound of tathāgatas. In the internal and external of the trichiliocosm, all the sounds that arise, all of them are heard by the perfectly pure ordinary ear faculty. Although the divine ear is not cultivated for a while, they will thoroughly understand the languages of those beings. They will discern the languages of those beings. They will clearly distinguish. Even though the ordinary ear faculty hears the sounds of those beings, all those sounds will not overwhelm that ear faculty. Always diligent, that bodhisattva mahāsattva will obtain such an ear faculty, although the divine ear is not realized for a while. The Blessed One spoke thus, the Sugata spoke thus.

Then, the Blessed One spoke again as follows: His auditory sense becomes ordinary, without turbidity, and very pure. In this world, all kinds of sounds, he can hear. The sounds of large drums, pottery drums, harps, lutes, flutes, and panpipes, wooden carts, the sounds of cattle and sheep, the sounds of horses and elephants can also be heard. Soft and pleasant singing can also be heard, and steadfast people will not become attached to it. Wherever, whoever is speaking, the voices of tens of thousands of people can be heard. The voices of gods and the sounds of dragons are always pleasant and delightful. The voices of men and women, as well as the voices of boys and girls, he can hear. Those who live in the mountains and caves, as well as the cuckoo, peacock, kalaviṅka bird, various birds, and parrots, he can hear their pleasant sounds. The suffering experienced by beings in hell, the extremely unbearable sounds, and the sounds emitted by hungry ghosts tormented by hunger, he can also hear. The sounds of asuras and beings living in the ocean, as well as other beings that make sounds, and those who preach the Dharma, he can hear all the sounds without hindrance while dwelling here. In the realm of animals, the sounds of mutual conversation, all kinds of sounds, he can hear them while dwelling here. The gods who dwell in the Brahma world, as well as the gods who dwell in Akanistha and the Clear Light heavens, the sounds they utter to each other, he can hear them all. Any bhikshus who have renounced the world and practice the teachings of the Tathagata, and those who preach the Dharma in the sangha, he can always hear their voices. In this world, any Bodhisattvas who have generated the mind of enlightenment, converse with each other, and correctly speak about the Dharma, he can hear their various sounds. Any Bodhisattva who holds this sutra, the Tathagata, the Lord, the tamer of beings, and whatever supreme Dharma he speaks to his retinue, he can hear it all at once. From Avici Hell up to the Peak of Existence, in all these three thousand great thousand worlds, both internally and externally.
