Maitreya, these sons of good family greatly delight in solitude and are inclined towards solitude. These sons of good family rely on gods and humans, but do not remain. These sons of good family delight in conduct without bustle, are inclined towards the joy of Dharma, and strive for the wisdom of the Buddhas. Then, the Bhagavan at that time spoke these verses: These Bodhisattvas are immeasurable, these are inconceivable, and there is no limit. Endowed with miraculous powers, wisdom, and learning, they practice wisdom for many hundreds of thousands of kalpas. I have completely matured all these in Bodhi, and they reside in my pure land. I have matured all these, these Bodhisattvas are my sons. All these are inclined towards solitude and practice, and always abandon places of bustle. Following my supreme conduct, these sons of mine practice without bustle. Residing in the place completely covered by the sky, these heroes completely practice under this land. This supreme Bodhi accomplishes everything, and they are exceedingly diligent and cautious day and night. All have undertaken diligence, are endowed with mindfulness, and abide in immeasurable power of wisdom. These fearlessly preach the Dharma, all these luminous ones are my sons. After I attained this supreme Bodhi, under that tree in the city of Gaya, I turned the unsurpassed wheel of Dharma, and matured all in this supreme Bodhi. Having heard these stainless and true words of mine, may all have faith in me. Since I attained supreme Bodhi in that way, I have completely matured all these. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Maitreya and many billions of hundreds of thousands of nayutas of Bodhisattvas were amazed and astonished, thinking: How could the Bhagavan, residing for such a short time, in such a short time, lead so many countless Bodhisattvas to unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment, and completely mature them? Venerable One, it has been a little over forty years since that time. Venerable One, how is it that in such a short time the Tathāgata has accomplished these immeasurable deeds of the Tathāgata, and the Tathāgata's supreme retinue, and the Tathāgata's subjugation of others, and this assembly of Bodhisattvas and this mass of Bodhisattvas? Venerable One, in such a short time, you have established them in unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and brought them to complete maturity. Venerable One, this assembly of Bodhisattvas and this mass of Bodhisattvas, even if counted for hundreds of thousands of millions of aeons, their end cannot be found. Venerable One, immeasurable, so countless are these Bodhisattvas who have long practiced pure conduct, created roots of virtue in the presence of many hundreds of thousands of Buddhas, and have been completely accomplished for many hundreds of thousands of aeons. Venerable One, for example, there is a certain person who is born and is twenty-five years old, a young man, a youth with black hair, endowed with the prime of youth. To those who have attained wonderful and marvelous diligence, strength, and power in the world, the Blessed One said: From the beginning, I have rightly established them in this Bodhisattva ground, completely matured and completely dedicated them. Thus, after attaining unsurpassed perfect enlightenment and becoming a Buddha, I myself have done all these diligence and subjugation. Blessed One, we are not other Tathagatas, thus it is said, this meaning is known by the Tathagata himself, although there is faith in the Tathagata, but Blessed One, those who newly enter the Bodhisattva path will have doubts about this place. After the Tathagata has completely passed into Nirvana, hearing this Dharma category, they will not believe, not respect, not rejoice. Blessed One, for that reason, they will be associated with the karma that leads to the poverty of the Dharma. How can we not have doubts about this Dharma, and in the future, when sons or daughters of good families, those of the Bodhisattva vehicle, hear it, they will not have doubts, please Blessed One explain this meaning well. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Maitreya, at that time, spoke these verses to the Blessed One: When were you born in Lumbini, renounced from the Shakya clan, attained enlightenment in Gaya City, World Protector, not long from then. These fearless ones and many others, the great assembly practiced for countless eons, abiding in miraculous power and unshakeable, the power of well-learned wisdom can also be realized. Like a lotus in water, unblemished, they have broken through this earth and come here today. Lord of the world, mindful disciples and sons of the Buddha, all stand with palms joined in reverence.
