Immovable, unshakeable, irreversible, immutable, constantly and truly abiding as it is, and a definitive word like the very nature of space; that which is severed from terminology, unborn, unarisen, truly unarisen, non-existent, uncompounded, without continuity. To express non-existence with words, abiding in the state of non-attachment, arising from inverted consciousness. Thus, Manjushri, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, constantly observing all phenomena and abiding in this, is indeed a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abiding in the realm of conduct. Manjushri, this is the second realm of conduct of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Then, the Blessed One, in order to extensively explain this meaning, at that time spoke these verses: "In a time of extreme fear in the future, Without shrinking and without fear, This sutra can also be taught, Whatever Bodhisattva desires. The ritual conduct and realm should be guarded, In a place without commotion and pure, Kings and princes, Association with them should always be abandoned. Whatever attendants of the king, Outcasts and hypocrites, Tirthikas and those with them, In every way, do not associate. Monks who are disciplined and abide by the Vinaya, Thinking of them as Arhats, Do not rely on those who are arrogant, Those who have broken their vows should be abandoned. Those who are frivolous and talkative in their conduct, Nuns should always be abandoned, Those who are manifestly unstable, Lay practitioners should also be abandoned. Laywomen who in this life, Seek nirvana and cessation, Association with them should be abandoned, This is the ritual, thus it is said. Whoever comes before him, Seeking the Dharma for supreme Bodhi, Without dwelling and without shrinking, The hero should always speak to them. Women, eunuchs, whatever sentient beings, Association with them should be abandoned, In all the houses, brides and such, And young girls should all be abandoned. Never rejoice in them at any time, Asking about clever and frivolous ones, Butchers and those who sell pigs, Association with them should all be abandoned. Those who, for the sake of enjoyment, Kill many sentient beings, Or sell meat for food, Association with them should all be abandoned. Those who support women, Dancers, wrestlers, and jesters,

Furthermore, one should abandon associating with those who are similar to them. One should not rely on a rotating leader, and one should abandon all forms of enjoyment, livelihood, and things that are extremely pleasing. When a wise person teaches the Dharma to women, they should not go alone and should not live frivolously. Whenever one enters a town repeatedly for the sake of food, one should seek a second bhikkhu or remember the Buddha. Those who possess wisdom and uphold such a sutra, I have initially explained the proper conduct and sphere of activity. Whenever there is no activity in conditioned and unconditioned phenomena, in what is true and untrue, and in the superior, middling, and inferior dharmas, one should not engage in "steadfast woman" or conceive of "man," because all dharmas are unborn, and even if sought, they cannot be found. This is the conduct of a bodhisattva, which has been fully revealed in all aspects. What is their sphere of activity? Listen carefully. These dharmas are shown to be non-existent, all are without arising and without birth, constantly unmoving, abiding in emptiness. This is the sphere of activity of the wise. These are inverted perceptions, considering what is untrue to be true, and what is true to be non-existent. In dharmas that have not arisen and have not been born, they are wrongly regarded as true and arising. The mind is always one-pointed and equipoised, abiding firmly like Mount Sumeru. Having remained thus, like the sky, one should examine all these dharmas. Always like the sky, without essence, unmoving, having abandoned the conceited mind, these dharmas abide in constant time. This is the sphere of activity of the wise. After my nirvana, any bhikkhu who well protects my sphere of activity, being never discouraged, should also widely proclaim this sutra in the world. When a wise person contemplates at times, having entered a room and closed the door, one should properly examine all these dharmas. Having arisen, speak with an undaunted mind. Whatever kings and princes listen to the Dharma, they should protect him. Also, many householders and brahmins, all should be his servants.
