are the characteristics of the Dharma that cuts off, and the characteristics of the Dharma that accords with it, and the characteristics of its faults, and the characteristics of its benefits. Manjushri, for it, the conventional characteristics are of three kinds, namely: showing the person, showing the nature of what is completely conceived, and observing and showing the actions, movements, and functions of the dharmas. For it, the ultimate characteristics are to observe and show the seven suchnesses. The characteristics of the object are to observe and show all knowable things. The characteristics of the aspect are to observe and show the eight kinds of examination, what are the eight kinds of examination? Namely: truth and, abiding and, fault and, virtue and, manner and, entering and, reasoning and, summarizing and elaborating. Among them, truth is any suchness. Abiding is establishing a person, or establishing the nature of what is completely conceived, or establishing one head, and distinguishing, and asking and answering, or establishing establishing, or establishing answering for secrecy and distinction. Faults are all the various names of the faults of all the contaminated dharmas that I have shown. Virtues are all the various names of the benefits of all the purified dharmas that I have shown. The manner needs to be understood as six kinds, namely: the manner of the meaning of only that, the manner of obtaining, the manner of speaking, the manner of completely abandoning the two extremes, the manner of being inconceivable, and the manner of intention. Entering is the three times and the three characteristics of conditioned things and the four conditions. Reasoning needs to be understood as four kinds, namely: the reasoning of dependence, the reasoning of action, the reasoning of establishing with reason, and the reasoning of the nature of Dharma. Among them, the reasoning of dependence is any cause for the arising of actions, and the subsequent imputation of names, and any condition, that is the reasoning of dependence. Any cause from which dharmas are obtained or accomplished or born, from which actions arise, and any condition, that is the reasoning of action. Etc.

The knowledge of wisdom, etc., and the accomplishment of the meaning of speaking and uttering, and in order to understand well, what are the causes and conditions, that is the reason established by reason. In short, there are two kinds: completely pure and completely impure. Among them, there are five characteristics of complete purity, and seven characteristics of complete impurity. So, what are the five characteristics of complete purity? That is the characteristic of direct perception, and the characteristic of abiding in that direct perception, and the characteristic of closely comparing the examples of one's own kind, the characteristic of complete establishment, and the characteristic of explaining that the scriptures are extremely pure and definite. Among them, all conditioned phenomena are impermanent, all conditioned phenomena are painful, and all dharmas are selfless. These are directly perceived in the world, and whatever is in accordance with this is the characteristic of direct perception. All conditioned phenomena are momentary, and there is a future life, and good and bad karma will not be in vain. The reason for impermanence residing in this is directly perceived, and sentient beings residing in various karmas is directly perceived, and sentient beings experiencing happiness and suffering is residing in good and bad karma is directly perceived, and for what has not become directly perceived, one can infer, and whatever is in accordance with this is the characteristic of abiding in that direct perception. For all internal and external conditioned phenomena, compare the death and birth known to all in the world, and compare the suffering of birth and so on, and compare the lack of autonomy, and in other places, compare the prosperity and decline known to all in the world, and whatever is in accordance with this, it should be known that is the characteristic of closely comparing the examples of one's own kind. Thus, the characteristic of direct perception, and the characteristic of abiding in that direct perception, and the characteristic of closely comparing the examples of one's own kind, that is for what is to be established.
