All of them went to the Bamboo Grove Kalandaka, the place in Rajagriha where the Blessed One was. Having arrived, they bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One and sat down on one side. Monks, nuns, laymen, laywomen, gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, mahoragas, all those who were there also entered the Bamboo Grove Kalandaka. After they entered, they manifested such miracles that they became immeasurable and knowable. Then, what kind of miracle did the Blessed One manifest again? In the three thousand great thousand worlds, the four great kings, Indra the lord of the gods, Brahma, the Great Brahma, the Clear Light, the Great Being, the Non-afflicted, the Very Visible, and as many sons of the Akanishtha gods as there were, all of them, by the power of the Buddha, went to the Bamboo Grove Kalandaka, the place in Rajagriha where the Blessed One was. Having arrived, they bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One and sat down on one side, and manifested such miracles that they would join their palms and pay homage to the Blessed One. Then, what kind of miracle did the Blessed One manifest again? The Naga kings Ocean, Anavatapta, Sagara, Gautama, Nanda, Near Nanda, Glorious, Holder of the Earth, Very Beautiful, Ela's Wing, and those and other hundreds of thousands of nagas, by the power of the Buddha, went to the place where the Blessed One was. Having arrived, they bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One and sat down on one side, and the vast gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, mahoragas, monks, nuns, laymen, and laywomen, all of them also entered the Bamboo Grove Kalandaka by the power of the Buddha, and sat down without fear of one another.

Such miraculous manifestations were manifested. Then, the Blessed One spoke to the venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana: Maudgalyāyana, come, prepare a seat for the Tathāgata. Seated upon it, the Tathāgata will correctly expound the category of Dharma called 'Cutting Off All Doubts.' He will correctly expound the conduct that accomplishes the thoughts of all sentient beings. He will correctly expound the category of Dharma that completely satisfies all sentient beings. He will correctly expound the seal of the ocean, the door of conduct that leads all sentient beings correctly into the Dharma. He will correctly expound the accomplishment of the conduct of Bodhisattvas, great beings. He will correctly expound the accomplishment of the Buddhadharma. He will correctly expound the accomplishment of the activity of maturing sentient beings. He will correctly expound the accomplishment of the perfection of generosity, up to the accomplishment of the perfection of wisdom. He will correctly expound the accomplishment of the door of conduct of all Dharmas. He will correctly expound the accomplishment of the faculties of all sentient beings. He will also correctly expound the accomplishment of the abiding conduct of all sentient beings. He will completely satisfy the fourfold assembly. He will also completely satisfy the retinues of gods, nāgas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas. And the vision of wisdom that is unattached and unobstructed in the past, similarly, the vision of wisdom that is unattached and unobstructed in the present and future, and the ripening of karma, and conduct and aspirations, etc., he will also correctly expound a portion of wisdom. Then, the venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana rose from his seat, bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One, and prepared a Brahma world as the seat for the Blessed One. In the space above, he also set up a promenade for the Blessed One made of seven precious jewels, comfortable to the touch like a cloth of Kacalindika, its size equal to a thousand world realms, and its width seven hundred yojanas.

He created a promenade that was pleasing to sentient beings. That promenade was surrounded by seven layers of walls, seven layers of horse-landing places, seven layers of platforms, and seven layers of tinkling bell nets. On the right and left sides of that promenade, he also manifested trees of four kinds of precious jewels: gold, silver, crystal, and lapis lazuli. The trees made of gold had leaves of silver, flowers of crystal, and fruits of lapis lazuli. The trees made of silver had leaves of gold, flowers of lapis lazuli, and fruits of crystal. The trees made of lapis lazuli had leaves of gold, flowers of silver, and fruits of crystal. The trees made of crystal had leaves of gold, flowers of silver, and fruits of lapis lazuli. In between all the trees, there were ponds filled with water possessing eight qualities, with four staircases. Then, the venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana manifested such a seat made by magical power, went to the Blessed One, and said this: "Blessed One, I have prepared the seat, please know that it is time to be seated."
