于燃身等,糠秕等,焚烧木柴,焚烧瓶器,焚烧石头,投入火焰中,不食食物,忧戚,往赴悬崖而死,以求苦行。名为善赞,名为不损根本,名为守护根本,名为建立根本,祈愿,赞颂,火供,降伏,咒语念诵,受持讽诵而得清净。自谓清净,而依止彼等,即梵天,帝释天,鸠摩罗,遍入天,天女,童子,母神,迦旃延子,月天,日天,毗沙门子,水神,具财子,星宿子,龙,药叉,乾闼婆,阿修罗,迦楼罗,紧那罗,摩睺罗伽,罗刹,部多,鸠槃荼,饿鬼,眷属,众,徒众,食肉者,天之仙人,国王之仙人,梵天之仙人等,稽首彼等,且视为心要。亦依止地,水,火,风,空。山,山谷,涧,泉,湖,池,沼,海,莲花,井,池塘,树,稠林,蔓草,草,树桩,凉亭,尸林,四衢道,三衢道,街巷等。亦稽首房屋,柱子,石块,砖块,刀剑,弓,钺斧,箭,短矛,三尖戟等。酸奶,酥油,芥子,青稞,木棉花鬘,茅草,宝珠,黄金,白银等,视为吉祥。其他外道之徒,因畏惧轮回,而行如是诸事,且依止之。于此,有谓我等之增上生及解脱,亦由此等而成办者,如是误入歧途,于非救护而作救护想,于非吉祥而作吉祥想,于非清净

Burning oneself and so on, husks and so on, burning firewood, burning pots, burning stones, throwing into flames, not eating food, sorrow, going to cliffs and dying, seeking asceticism. Named Good Praise, named Undiminished Root, named Guarding the Root, named Establishing the Root, prayer, praise, fire offering, subjugation, mantra recitation, upholding and reciting to be purified. Thinking themselves pure, they rely on them, namely Brahma, Indra, Kumara, Vishnu, goddesses, youths, mothers, Katyayana's son, Moon God, Sun God, Vaishravana's son, Water God, Wealthy Son, Star Son, Nagas, Yakshas, Gandharvas, Asuras, Garudas, Kinnaras, Mahoragas, Rakshasas, Bhutas, Kumbhandas, Pretas, retinues, assemblies, crowds, flesh-eaters, celestial sages, royal sages, Brahma's sages, bowing to them and regarding them as essential. They also rely on earth, water, fire, wind, and space. Mountains, valleys, ravines, springs, lakes, ponds, swamps, seas, lotuses, wells, pools, trees, dense forests, vines, grass, tree stumps, pavilions, charnel grounds, crossroads, intersections, streets, and so on. They also bow to houses, pillars, stones, bricks, swords, bows, axes, arrows, short spears, tridents, and so on. Yogurt, butter, mustard, barley, cotton garlands, kusha grass, jewels, gold, silver, and so on, they regard as auspicious. Other heretics, fearing samsara, perform such actions and rely on them. Here, some think that our higher realms and liberation are also accomplished by these, thus going astray, thinking of non-protection as protection, thinking of non-auspiciousness as auspiciousness, thinking of non-purity
