Even if gathered together, they would fall to the ground with just a touch. Mount Sumeru, the King of Mountains, the Vajra surrounding mountains, and whatever other mountains there are in the ten directions, if one kneads them with their hands and grinds them into powder, what is so surprising about a human body without essence? This is the wrathful giant before the supreme King of Trees, along with the hosts of demons with their banners and claws, whose black veins are destroyed by the power of loving-kindness, and who also attains unsurpassed enlightenment in peace. Thus, that Bodhisattva alone became particularly superior. Then, Shakya Vajrapani said to those Shakya youths, "These have awakened and have also seen, now show your archery skills." At that time, Ananda set up an iron drum as a target two yojanas away. After that, Devadatta set up an iron drum as a target four yojanas away. After that, Sundarananda set up an iron drum as a target six yojanas away. After that, Shakya Vajrapani set up an iron drum as a target eight yojanas away. Then, the Bodhisattva set up an iron drum as a target ten yojanas away, and next to it, he erected seven tala trees, and beyond that, he set up a mechanical iron boar figure. Then, Ananda shot at the drum target two yojanas away and hit it, but he could not hit beyond that distance. Devadatta shot at the drum target four yojanas away and hit it, but he could not hit beyond that distance. Sundarananda shot at the drum target six yojanas away and hit it, but he could not hit beyond that distance. Vajrapani shot at the drum target eight yojanas away,

The king said: There is a son. The youth said: Where is such a god? The king said: Son, your grandfather was called Lion Cheek, and his bow is now worshiped in the temple with incense and garlands. No one can even draw it, let alone string it. The Bodhisattva said: Please bring that divine bow, I will try it. Then, he took the bow and came, and all the Shakya youths tried with the utmost effort, but they could not even draw the bow, let alone string it, they could not do it. Then, that bow was taken by the Shakya Vajrapani, who exerted all the strength of his body, but he could not draw the bow. Then, that bow was given to the Bodhisattva. Then, the Bodhisattva took the bow, and without rising from his seat, he sat in the half-lotus position, holding the bow with his left hand and drawing it with one finger of his right hand. When the bow was drawn in this way, a great sound was heard in all the great cities of Kapilavastu. All the people in the city were terrified and asked each other what this sound was. Some of them said that it was the sound of the young Siddhartha drawing his grandfather's bow. Then, hundreds and thousands of gods and men exclaimed "Ema, Alala," and made hundreds and thousands of noises and clamors. The sons of the gods dwelling in the middle of the sky also spoke verses to King Suddhodana and the majority of the people: Without rising from the seat, without exertion, the World Honored One drew such a bow. Do not seek evil, may you attain perfect enlightenment, subdue the armies of Mara, and quickly become a Buddha. Monks, in this way, the Bodhisattva took the arrow, placed it on the bow, drew it full, and shot it with such power that it pierced Nanda's target, Devadatta's target, Sundarananda's target, and Vajrapani's target, surpassing all of them, and struck my iron target ten yojanas away, as well as seven tala trees.

And, it was even more powerful than the illusion wheel that turned into a wild boar, the arrow pierced the ground and disappeared without a trace. The place where the arrow pierced and disappeared, a hole like a well appeared, and it is still called the Arrow Well. At that time, hundreds of thousands of gods and humans all uttered "Ema, Alala" sounds, making hundreds of thousands of noises and clamors. All the Shakya people gained great amazement, saying: Wonderful! Wonderful! This person, without learning, possesses such skillful knowledge, it is truly amazing. The sons of the gods dwelling in the sky also said to King Śuddhodana and the vast populace: What is so amazing about such amazement? Why is that? Because this is the essence of the earth, the Buddha of the past sat on the seat. With quiescence as the bow, and emptiness and selflessness as the arrows. Destroying the enemies of affliction, tearing the net of views. Attaining supreme Bodhi, peaceful and dustless, without sorrow. After saying these words, the sons of the gods showered the Bodhisattva with heavenly flowers.
