Sa. With a smiling face, without any anger, and with an extremely devout expression, he spoke these verses to King Śuddhodana. King, lord of the land, please listen to me well. King, I request you, please do not refuse me. Whatever is in my mind, whatever I desire, please listen to me and make your heart rejoice. I request to take the vows of a god, the precepts, and ascetic practices. I take the eight-limbed vows with love for beings. Abandoning harm to living beings, with constant pure thoughts. As I love myself, so I treat others. Completely abandoning the thought of stealing, abandoning desire and pride. King, I will not engage in improper sexual conduct with various desires. Abiding in truth, without slander, abandoning harsh words. I will not use unprofitable idle talk either. Abandoning harmful thoughts, hatred, jealousy, ignorance, and arrogance. Abandoning all greed, I will live with my own wealth. With proper conduct, abandoning hypocrisy, pretense, and envy. I will practice these ten paths of virtuous actions. I will happily and diligently guard the precepts and ascetic practices. King of men, please do not be troubled by craving for me. King, that will cause you to be in a state of non-virtue for a long time. Please rejoice in my precepts and ascetic practices, and abide nearby. King, this is my request, please grant it to me quickly now. In a magnificent palace with cool pavilions and white geese. On a soft and fragrant bed spread with flowers. I wish to always be surrounded by friends and live happily. Few men, and also children. And ordinary women, I do not wish them to be in my presence. Except for listening to pleasant and delightful musical sounds. I do not need sights, sounds, and smells that are displeasing to the mind. Please release all those who have been imprisoned and sentenced. Let those who are troubled by wealth, possess wealth. For the sake of the happiness of beings, please bestow food, drink, vehicles, palanquins, and riding horses for seven days. In this palace, all the men, children, and women. As many as there are, free from fighting and angry words. Possessing minds of mutual love, with thoughts of benefit and kindness. Like gods dwelling in a joyful garden, live in harmony and enjoy happiness. King, please carefully examine major and minor punishments. And harm, beatings, and insults.

Without acting harshly, with a heart of love and faith towards all beings, cherishing compassion and benefit. The gods regard all beings as their only child. The king, hearing these words, was greatly pleased and said: Whatever you desire, all shall be done as you say. I will contemplate with my mind all that your heart desires; whatever you choose as the best, that I will bestow upon you. The noble king commanded his attendants: Upon the sacred mansion, prepare abundant offerings. Adorn the marketplace with beautiful flowers, and perfume it with the finest incense. Also adorn it with parasols, banners, and garlands of Tala flowers. Select twenty thousand valiant warriors, equipped with various armors. Let them bear bows, arrows, iron darts, short spears, and swords. Let them encircle the goddess with captivating melodies of swans, guarding her so that she may be without fear. After bathing, anoint her with fragrant oils, and adorn her limbs with exquisite garments. Let the women surround her like daughters of the gods. Bring forth a thousand cymbals with pleasing sounds. Let the goddess dwell therein like a daughter of the gods. Adorn the divine throne with priceless jewels of great value. Upon the throne, spread many exquisite bedding, arranging it pleasingly. Place the crest jewel upon the bed. In the dense forest, she dwells like a daughter of the gods. Monks, thereafter, the Four Great Kings, Indra, the lord of the gods, the son of the gods, Ever-Victorious, Tushita, Nirmāṇarati, Paranirmita-vasavartin, the commander of the sons of Mara, Brahma, the lord of the Sahā world, Brahma-purohita, Brahma-pārṣadya, Ābhāsvara, Śubhakṛtsna, Anāgatapuṇya, and the great lords of the Pure Abodes, Akaniṣṭha, and so forth, and many other hundreds and thousands of gods gathered together, saying to one another: Friends, if we were to request the sole Bodhisattva to descend, we would not know what we have done, and we would not be worthy. Friends, among you, who has seen the Bodhisattva first entering the womb of his mother, dwelling in the womb, being born, cutting his hair, playing among children, dwelling among the retinue of consorts, watching music and dance, and
