is the power of loving-kindness, because it does not harm sentient beings. The seventh is the power of great compassion, because it undertakes to bear the harm that has been done. The eighth is the power of the virtuous friend, because it awakens one at all times. This daughter is called the eight powers. Any bodhisattva who possesses these eight powers will become a hero who is thoroughly revealed, and even if he dwells in samsara, he will be without attachment or clinging. Then, the Bhagavan again spoke in verse: The hero who desires the mind, abandons deceit and trickery, and always acts with integrity, will incline towards perfect enlightenment. The power of faith, abandoning many faults, and only practicing virtue, will abide in true diligence. If the practice is perfectly complete, always well shown, because diligence becomes firm, it will bring happiness to sentient beings. By the power of complete faith, by understanding the ripening of karma, believing in the wisdom of the Buddha, one will completely gather the world. The power of the bodhicitta, abandoning the lesser vehicle, and not cutting off the lineage of the Buddha, one will abide in the nature of reality. By the power of great love, one will look upon sentient beings with equanimity, and because there is no love or hatred, one will not generate anger or harmful intent. By the power of great compassion, one will undertake to help sentient beings, and because there is no attachment to samsara, one will be completely weary and without fatigue. By the power of the virtuous friend, one will always awaken each other, and the mind will not become dull, one will abide in enlightenment. Any hero who possesses these eight powers, dwelling in the essence of enlightenment, will destroy the many armies of Mara. Furthermore, daughter, if a bodhisattva possesses eight qualities, he will thoroughly abide in equality. What are the eight? The first is that all sentient beings become equal, because by nature they are without self. The second is that all dharmas become equal, because all dharmas are utterly peaceful.

Third is that all fields become equal, because they will enter the realm of emptiness. Fourth is that all Tathagatas become equal, because they show equanimity. Fifth is that all actions become equal, because causes and conditions have no inherent nature. Sixth is that all vehicles become equal, because they are the same in being unconditioned. Seventh is that the mind becomes equal, because the mind is like an illusion. Eighth is that all demons become equal, because the origin of afflictions is not found. This is called being well established in equality by eight dharmas. Then, the Bhagavan again spoke in verses: All beings are without self-nature, not even a moment can be found. Whoever dwells in equality, should be viewed as such. Since all dharmas are equal, their nature is always empty and solitary. There is only a distinction in letters, but the nature of dharmas is not different. All the fields of the ten directions, because all boundaries are not found, therefore their nature is like space, the Buddha-fields are always equal. All the Tathagatas of the three times, because they dwell equally in the Dharmadhatu, therefore wisdom is boundless and liberated, all Buddhas are also like that. The nature of beings, causes, and conditions, all are equal, and by knowing their conduct well, one should understand accordingly. As many beings as are different, should be understood as like illusions. Since neither inner nor outer is taken, the nature is always pure. Although various vehicles are taught, they are extremely equal in the unconditioned. The guide is skilled in means, and separately teaches the three vehicles. Although well established in the afflictive demons, there is no entity of afflictions. Gods, aggregates, the Lord of Death, demons, all realms of activity are empty. Furthermore, daughter, a Bodhisattva who possesses eight qualities will completely abandon love and hatred. What are the eight? Namely, having love, having compassion, constantly benefiting, not being attached to worldly dharmas, not being attached to one's own body, constantly meditating on the mind of Samadhi, body and life
