Although abiding in inferior power, he supremely demonstrates in order to fully ripen sentient beings; this is my arrangement. Although abiding in wisdom, he demonstrates as if not knowing, and although demonstrating as if not knowing, he appears to know; this is his arrangement. For those who have not attained wisdom, he also generates faith in bodily conduct and behavior, and for those who have attained wisdom, he also demonstrates all conduct as being correct, thus demonstrating miraculous powers; this is his arrangement. Although constantly controlled by the mind, he demonstrates as being poor and destitute, yet even Brahma makes offerings, and although abiding in supreme arrangement, even ordinary people make offerings; this is his arrangement. In order to gather sentient beings, he also closely demonstrates being poor and destitute, and in order to generate manifestation for sentient beings, although possessing vast enjoyment, he also demonstrates manifestation; this is his arrangement. Then, the Venerable Ananda said to the Bhagavan: "Bhagavan, from what time has this son of good family, Named Certainty, practiced for the sake of enlightenment?" The Bhagavan replied: "Ananda, this son of good family, Named Certainty, has served and honored many billions of Buddhas, possesses perfect former conduct, has obtained the three tolerances, has obtained fearlessness, has played with manifestations of superknowledge, and is skilled in fully ripening sentient beings; he tames sentient beings through poverty and destitution." Bright One, Bhagavan, how many sentient beings has this poor and destitute one tamed? The Bhagavan replied: Ananda, many hundreds of thousands of sons of gods have been fully ripened by him into unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and humans are the same. Ananda asked: Bhagavan, when will this one manifest unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment? What will be the arrangement of this Buddha's Buddha-field? What will be his name? Then, the Bhagavan spoke to the Venerable Ananda in verse: Diligent in the benefit of sentient beings, with steadfast vows, having pervaded the mind with vast fame,

What is my Bodhi's virtue-abiding conduct like? I will tell you, Kunga, listen. Here, out of respect for the supreme offering to the king, And diligently strive to protect the sacred Dharma. What are the aspects of definite conduct? Those cannot be enumerated here. Well-trained in these perfections, Previously played with the superknowledges. Having gone to the end with the abodes of Brahma. Well-trained in skillful means of conduct. Here, he sees well the faults of compounded things, And has also realized the enlightenment of the Buddha. He has also well-trained in the characteristics of how beings will be liberated, And the nature of their ripening. Fearless, endowed with intelligence, understanding, and mindfulness, And also endowed with boldness and retentions. Having certainly emerged from the iron hook of the demon and the mire of afflictions, And dwells greatly in the great meaning of the Buddha's realm. Not stained by many worldly things, And like a rock, he is not moved by attachment and so on. He does not go to anyone's presence, whether to distance himself or not, Like the sky, he is without bondage or liberation. Abiding in compassion, and his mind is completely without weariness, Extremely tamed and possessing loving-kindness towards the timid. He cherishes all sentient beings as he does himself, He does not look at faults and is not associated with quarrels. He abides in practices as they have been taught, He acts as he has spoken. He has well-trained in the nature of Dharma in the manner of Dharma, He is devoted to emptiness and completely liberated from duality. Having obtained the three tolerances, he is not the realm of ordinary beings, He dwells greatly in the conduct and qualities of the Buddha. When he wanders in any world, There, many beings are liberated. Wherever this son of the Buddha abides, The realm of the Thus-Gone One is not empty, All the worlds, including gods, for him, Respect him as they would the Buddha. When the time comes for me to pass away after Nirvana, This certainty, having also practiced the conduct of the Buddha, The realm of manifest joy where he previously resided, Will not be disturbed.
