Will realize the unexcelled, perfectly complete, and fully awakened enlightenment. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Elektra, in front of the Blessed One, requested in verse: O unsurpassed leader of humans, Possessing measured knowledge and vision, Residing in the unmixed Dharma, Benefiting all the worlds. Equally regarding all sentient beings, Acting as protector and refuge for all the worlds, Having shown the path of wrong and right, Establishing them in ultimate bliss. Supreme qualities are greatly accumulated, Like a heap of various jewels, You are the sun of wisdom in the world, The chief worthy of offering in the three realms. Having spoken of the Great Vehicle, Perfect the path to enlightenment, Your face is like the full moon, Your peaceful abiding is perfectly complete. Having greatly taught the peaceful Dharma, You pacify all afflictions, Having spoken of the conduct of enlightenment, I beseech you to benefit all sentient beings. The Buddha-fields and life-span, The form-body and retinues, The three activities and the Dharmas, All of them are supreme. I beseech the Blessed One to speak of the pure conduct of the Bodhisattvas. How does one subdue the Maras? How does one teach the Dharma? How does one not lose mindfulness? I beseech you to explain. How do the heroes, Even though they enter into all samsara, Abide in one characteristic, And never waver from the Dharma? How do they, to all the Buddhas, Attend and make offerings? Even though they always see the Buddha's body, In the end, they abandon the signs? Even though they manifest the three liberations, Like birds flying in the sky, Until the accumulation of qualities is perfected, They will never pass into nirvana. Having fully understood the nature of the faculties, Following without any fears, Without any manifest clinging, They ripen those sentient beings. Having first abandoned worldly happiness, And later generated the initial mind, With the abundance of vast wisdom, They will attain the unexcelled enlightenment. Such profound and vast meaning, I beseech the Tathagata to explain. Then, the Blessed One said to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Elektra: Son of good family, you

in order to benefit and bring happiness to immeasurable sentient beings, and in order to fully embrace the present world, including the gods, and the future Bodhisattvas, it is excellent, excellent that you have asked the Tathagata about such a matter! Therefore, Electric Empowerment, listen very well and keep it in mind, and I will truly explain it to you. The Bodhisattva Electric Empowerment said to the Bhagavan: "Thus I have heard." The Bhagavan replied: "Electric Empowerment, Bodhisattva Mahasattvas possess five great treasures: the inexhaustible treasure, the universally inexhaustible treasure, and the boundless treasure. Bodhisattvas who are so endowed with treasures can completely eliminate all decline, and can perfectly accomplish the extraordinary qualities mentioned above, and with little effort, quickly attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. What are the five? They are: the treasure of the realm of desire, the treasure of the realm of anger, the treasure of the realm of ignorance, the treasure of the realm of equanimity, and the treasure of all dharmas. Electric Empowerment, what is the treasure of the realm of desire of the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas? For example, sentient beings follow the realm of desire, are bound by perversion, follow after signs, and in various ways discriminate about objects such as form, sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharmas, clinging to them as if they were solid, and are attached to pleasure and intoxicated. The Bodhisattva, with respect to these sentient beings,

In order to completely abandon all the desires of those sentient beings, and in order to make their virtuous minds constantly uninterrupted, one must cultivate them after examining them very carefully. It should be known that the faculties and the differences in behavior of sentient beings who have attained supernatural powers are extremely difficult to understand. Because even the Shravakas and all the Pratyekabuddhas cannot understand, what need is there to mention ordinary people and non-Buddhists? Some sentient beings who have attained supernatural powers, although they have become strongly attached to desires, can also perfect the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Some sentient beings, merely by touching the objects of desire, or merely by uttering a word with a desire mind, can also perfect the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Some sentient beings, seeing a beautiful form and giving rise to a mind of desire, but when they see that form changing and decaying, they realize that form is impermanent, thereby pacifying the suffering of desire, and merely by intensely focusing on impermanence itself, they can also perfect the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Some sentient beings, when they see a woman, do not give rise to strong attachment, but later, due to the power of recollection, they give rise to a mind of desire, remembering her color and shape, and thus give rise to subsequent attachment. Some sentient beings, in dreams, due to seeing pleasing forms, give rise to strong attachment of desire, thereby remembering and constantly pursuing them. Some sentient beings, merely by hearing the sound of a woman, will generate the thirst of desire. Sometimes, merely by seeing, one can be separated from the mind of desire, thereby perfecting the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Therefore, the Bodhisattva who has attained supernatural powers, whatever the various diseases of desire are, and whatever the medicine of desire is, can understand them well with skillful means, but there is no sign of dualistic grasping of the Dharma realm, and to those sentient beings who are ignorant of the Dharma realm, they also generate great compassion.
