If one firmly resolves in their mind to learn, Shariputra, even if a Bodhisattva who wishes to learn does not actually study, they will still accumulate a vast amount of virtuous roots, more so than by giving great generosity. Why is that? Shariputra, unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment rests upon this. Therefore, Shariputra, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva exerts diligence in order to hear, retain, write, recite, hold, and accurately and thoroughly teach others the categories of Dharma within the Bodhisattva's collection. Shariputra, a Bodhisattva who exerts diligence goes to a place where there is no going. What is the place where there is no going? It is like Nirvana, where the evil demon has no place to go. Therefore, it is called a place where there is no going. Those who go there are endowed with diligence, noble beings, Buddhas, and Shravakas. Why is that? Because entering the path of diligent practice leads to such noble beings and Buddhas. Those who possess all defiled qualities have three destinations. What are the three? Inclining towards bad rebirths, falling into bad rebirths, and having fallen into bad rebirths. Apart from ethics, patience, and extensive learning, there is no other Dharma that can manifest. Alas, these beings abide in the action of the word called "I," abiding in what is not action. Alas, these beings initiate diligence called "I," yet they are lazy. Shariputra, a wise Bodhisattva does not befriend or rely on lazy beings who abide in what is not action. Instead, they rely on those who practice harmoniously and exert diligence. Why is that? Shariputra, there is no supreme Nirvana other than the complete Nirvana of the Buddha. Shariputra, a Bodhisattva who is devoted to purification and exerts diligence does not exert diligence merely to pacify their own body, but enters into it for the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings.

Causes to understand, causes to appear, causes to encourage, causes to hold. Introduces to the path of the noble ones. Therefore, he is called a noble being, a Bodhisattva. Then, the Bhagavan spoke these verses at that time: With unknotted diligence, may you always become truly noble. The wise Bodhisattva, always holds the collections of teachings. Thinking of the meaning of the teachings, their wisdom is inconceivable. Seeking complete purification, is said to be a Bodhisattva. Those of great wisdom rely on, having sat under the supreme tree. Likewise, with wisdom and diligence, makes the sinful demons afraid. From all the conventions of the world, pure morality shows everything. For the benefit of all sentient beings, diligence towards that will not diminish. Shariputra, such a time and such a Dharma will arise. After I and you have completely passed into Nirvana, in the last five hundred years, such a Sutra Pitaka will make many beings happy, make them satisfied, accomplish wisdom, accomplish merit, accomplish the increase of enjoyment, accomplish the heavenly realms, accomplish all perfections. Accomplishing the power of the Tathagata, and indestructibility, and individually correct knowledge, and great love, and great compassion, and great joy, and great equanimity, and the unmixed Dharmas of the Buddha. In short, accomplishing the Dharmas of the Buddha, making the demons afraid, purifying the mind, accomplishing the end of birth, accomplishing the end of suffering, drawing near to Nirvana. Those will be abandoned at that time, will be unwanted, will be completely discarded. Shariputra, whoever strives, strives greatly, strives exceedingly, desires unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, desires morality, desires hearing, desires samadhi, desires wisdom, desires liberation, desires the wisdom vision of liberation, desires the Dharma of the Buddha, desires benefit and happiness for all sentient beings, desires to abandon wrong views, desires to cultivate right views, abandons samsara.

Wishing, wishing to practice the noble path, Wishing to teach the Dharma, wishing to make demons afraid, wishing to pacify desire, wishing to pacify hatred, wishing to destroy ignorance, wishing to destroy ignorance, those beings who wish to generate wisdom will appear. Shariputra, those who hear such Dharma will generate diligence in order to desire all the roots of virtue. After hearing such Dharma, all the Buddha's teachings will not be interrupted, and I have no doubt about this. Shariputra, those beings who are firmly established by the power of merit, who enter into the unsurpassed and perfectly complete enlightenment with excellent intentions, will listen to such sutras. After hearing them, they will generate great joy and satisfaction. They will thoroughly understand the categories of Dharma in the Bodhisattva's treasury, and they will diligently practice them. Those who correctly make listening to the Tathagata's teachings as the Dharma to be heard will listen without being controlled by some causes and some objects. After hearing, they will generate great joy and satisfaction. After they have generated joy and satisfaction, they will generate extremely firm diligence, and they will take a little essence from such precious Dharma of the Bodhisattva's treasury. For example, Shariputra, many ripe fruits, perfect in color, perfect in smell, perfect in taste, are carried away by the great ocean, and some people generate diligence and great determination, enter the great water, work hard with their hands and feet, take one fruit from the great ocean, take two or three, come out of the great ocean, go to one side, taste that fruit, and he will taste a taste that he has never tasted before, and he will think like this: these fruits are colorful, these fruits have a smell, these fruits have a taste, I have never tasted them before. I should be diligent in this way, work hard with my hands and feet, and take other fruits, thinking like this, and enter the great ocean again, and he will later
