The place is excellent, praising the virtues of patience. Those sentient beings who harm each other by stabbing with poison-filled weapons should be reconciled. That is the characteristic of the wise. The conduct of children is also the same. By what means nirvana is attained is also different. Because I seek distinction, children do not learn from me. Again, Shariputra, a Bodhisattva should train in this way: Even if for billions of eons, one is stabbed and pelted with stones, sticks, and weapons, one should not give rise to even a little anger. One should say, 'How wonderful! These sentient beings are noble, they have not taken my life.' Thus, one should understand oneself, and again, one should train in this way. Holding complete scrutiny, even if within a hundred steps, in the short time it takes me to walk seven steps, robbers as numerous as the sands of the Ganges were to cut off my head, I should not cultivate anger or scolding. Why? Because anger destroys the roots of virtue accumulated over hundreds of thousands of eons, and again, I must accumulate roots of virtue for hundreds of thousands of eons. Thus, unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment is difficult to attain, and such a Dharma is difficult to arise. Therefore, I should don the armor of the power of patience. Thus, Shariputra, if one who has entered the Great Vehicle becomes angry, the demon finds an opportunity. If the demon finds an opportunity, it will interrupt the path to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. With an angry mind, one will be distracted from the work of enlightenment. When the mind is distracted, the evil demon is driven by the work of the demon. What is the work of the demon? Thus, the thought of entering the alms bowl is the work of the demon. The thought of entering the Dharma robe is the work of the demon. The thought of begging in the city is the work of the demon. The thought of gain, respect, and praise is the work of the demon. Turning away from the desire to renounce is the work of the demon. Turning away from the desire for many white dharmas is the work of the demon. Turning away from faith in dwelling in solitude is the work of the demon. Turning away from the desire for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment is the work of the demon.

It is the work. Desiring other wisdom is the work of the devil. Not serving the Khenpo and Acharya is the work of the devil. Thus, Shariputra, a mind filled with hatred will be distracted from the work of Bodhi. A distracted mind will be led into these works of the devil by the sinful devil. Shariputra, the sinful devil has been seeking opportunities for a long time. For example, seeking anger and harmful thoughts. Shariputra, knowing through clairvoyance, in the past I was a hermit named Practice Field. At that time, the sinful devil manifested as five hundred warriors who insulted me, and for five hundred years they constantly followed me, insulting me day and night, insulting me while walking, insulting me while coming and going, insulting me while standing, insulting me while sitting and lying down, insulting me while going to the village, insulting me while standing in the street, insulting me while standing at home, insulting me while sitting in the street, insulting me while sitting at home, insulting me while going to the monastery, insulting me while standing in the monastery, insulting and saying unpleasant words, speaking harshly, abiding in that way. They followed me closely for five hundred years. However, Shariputra, towards those warriors who insulted me for five hundred years, I treated them with loving-kindness, and I never had any other thought except to generate a mind that would create faults contrary to the view. At that time, I thought to myself: These sons of good family are endowed with morality, possess virtuous qualities, and are naturally small in desire, small in hatred, and small in ignorance. I do not practice austerities for these small matters, nor do I achieve unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment for these small matters. Sentient beings are stubborn and difficult to tame, their morality is corrupt, they possess sinful qualities, and are naturally great in desire, great in hatred, and great in ignorance. For them, I practice austerities, and for them, I achieve unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment. I should first liberate them from suffering. Shariputra, this thought arose in a mind without hatred. Thus, Shariputra, the Tathagata is a perfect collection of beneficial things.
