Boundless. Young man, and the realm of sentient beings is very numerous, the realm of earth and, the realm of water and, the realm of fire and, the realm of wind are not like that, however, young man, the realm of sentient beings is immeasurable, how much, in order to understand that meaning, an analogy is shown. Young man, for example, in the east there are worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, and in the south, and in the west, and in the north, and likewise in the intermediate directions, and in all ten directions, there are worlds equal to the sands of the Ganges, all of which are completely filled with water and become an ocean, and having become one great ocean, holding complete observation, there sentient beings gather as many as the sands of the Ganges, and with the tip of a hair divided into eight parts, take one drop of water, and again sentient beings gather as many as the sands of the Ganges, and with the tip of a hair divided into a hundred parts, take two drops of water. Again, sentient beings gather as many as the sands of the Ganges, and with the tip of a hair divided into a hundred parts, take three drops of water, young man, holding complete observation, by such means that great mass of water is exhausted, but the realm of sentient beings has no limit or end. Young man, the realm of sentient beings, so inconceivable and boundless, is all pervaded by the loving-kindness of the Bodhisattva. Young man, what do you think? Can the measure of the root of virtue of cultivating loving-kindness, which is so inconceivable, be held? I beseech you, Blessed One, that is not possible. Sugata, that is not possible. Young man, thus the Bodhisattva, the great Bodhisattva, the root of virtue cultivated is inconceivable. Young man, his loving-kindness is protecting himself, abiding for the benefit of others, supremely without harmful intent, free from anger and, the hearth of harmful intent, destroying faults, free from all arising of attachment, completely showing faith, viewing all errors as faults, completely without suffering, body and, speech and, mind generating happiness, not falling into all actions that harm others, free from all fears, in accordance with the noble path, generating joy in scolding and, anger, liberating from all battles, separation and
