And speech, speech that has not occurred, speech of no self, speech of no sentient beings, speech of no life, speech of no person, and the profound speech of dependent origination are well explained. That is, when this exists, this arises. Because this is born, this is born. Thus, with ignorance as the condition, there are actions. With actions as the condition, there is consciousness. With consciousness as the condition, there is name and form. With name and form as the condition, there are the six sense sources. With the six sense sources as the condition, there is contact. With contact as the condition, there is feeling. With feeling as the condition, there is craving. With craving as the condition, there is grasping. With grasping as the condition, there is becoming. With becoming as the condition, there is birth. With birth as the condition, there are old age and death, and sorrow, lamentation, pain, distress, and agitation arise. Thus, only this great mass of suffering arises. That is, when this exists, this arises. When this ceases, this ceases. Thus, when ignorance ceases, actions cease, and so on, until this great mass of suffering alone ceases. In this, no dharma arises or ceases. Why is that? All dharmas are dependently originated, without a lord, without a maker, without a feeler, arising from causes and conditions. In this, no dharma is accomplished, no dharma is reversed, no dharma is followed. By non-true ignorance, the three realms are bound. The path of afflictions and the path of suffering are bound. Having examined non-true ignorance as it truly is, no dharma is the maker of any dharma. Where there is no maker, the activity of ultimate truth is also not found. In that, no dharma arises, no dharma ceases, it is said. Having heard such a profound dharma, he does not doubt, does not hesitate, and engages in all dharmas without attachment. He is not attached to form, nor to feeling, perception, formation, or consciousness. He is not attached to the eye and form, nor to the consciousness of the eye. He is not attached to the ear, nose, tongue, body, mind, and dharma, nor to the consciousness of the mind.

He is not attached to knowing, like this, all dharmas are empty in nature. Shariputra, a Bodhisattva who abides in faith in this way will not fall away from seeing the Buddhas, will not fall away from hearing the Dharma, and will not fall away from serving the Sangha. Wherever he is born, he will not be separated from seeing the Buddhas, will not be separated from hearing the Dharma, and will not be separated from serving the Sangha. He will be born in the presence of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and even having been born there, he will strive diligently and be diligent in seeking all virtuous dharmas. Because of his diligent effort, he will not desire to live at home, will not desire sons and daughters, will not desire male and female servants, hired workers, and those who make a living by farming. He will not desire to look at all things to be taken, and after he is born, without indulging in sensual pleasures, in his youth, having faith in the teachings of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, he will quickly renounce his home and go forth into homelessness. After he has renounced his home out of faith, he will be endowed with excellent virtuous friends, associate with virtuous friends, and through contemplating virtuous friends, he will gain virtuous thoughts. After he is endowed with virtuous thoughts, he will listen to virtuous dharmas and make practice the core. He will not have a mind that is given to empty words, and he will not be satisfied with seeking extensive learning. He will extensively and correctly explain the dharmas he has heard to others, without hoping to gain profit, respect, and praise with an undefiled mind, and without abandoning his own vows, he will teach the Dharma to others, teaching the Dharma to others as he has heard and abides. Those who hear the Dharma will gain great love, and great compassion will arise for all sentient beings. Because of his extensive learning, he will not look to body and life, he will be content with little desire, he will be extremely solitary and steadfast, easy to nourish and satisfy, delight in solitary places, and approach and rely on the meaning of the dharmas he has heard.
