Samadhi Exists. If one attains this samadhi, a Bodhisattva will have fearlessness in all letters, and also in all sounds, all tones, and all expressions. Then, the youthful Manjushri asked the Blessed One, "Blessed One, I am fearless in speaking about the qualities of this Dharma teaching." The Blessed One replied, "Manjushri, you should be fearless." Manjushri asked, "Blessed One, those Bodhisattvas who, with minds free from deceit and doubt, teach this Dharma teaching, uphold it, read it, fully understand it, and extensively and accurately explain it to others, may hope to attain fearlessness in this very life without being harmed by obstacles. They may hope to attain swift fearlessness, vast fearlessness, profound fearlessness, unfailing fearlessness, and various kinds of fearlessness. They may also hope to develop a mind free from animosity towards all sentient beings. Why is that? Because practicing this Dharma teaching is directly related to this conduct." The Blessed One praised the youthful Manjushri, saying, "Well done, well done, Manjushri! You have spoken these words well. Manjushri, it is like this: for example, giving alms unfailingly leads to obtaining great wealth; upholding moral discipline unfailingly leads to being born in higher realms; listening to teachings unfailingly leads to great wisdom; meditation unfailingly leads to liberation. Manjushri, similarly, this Dharma teaching also unfailingly leads to the arising of fearlessness in this very life. Manjushri, it is like this: for example, the rising sun dispels all darkness. Manjushri, similarly, it is hoped that this Dharma teaching will give rise to fearlessness as soon as it is taught. Manjushri, it is like this: for example, a Bodhisattva seated at the heart of enlightenment will definitely awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Manjushri, similarly, a Bodhisattva

O great being, whoever thoroughly proclaims this category of Dharma will undoubtedly and certainly gain fearlessness in this very life. Manjushri, therefore, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas who desire to gain fearlessness in this very life should grasp this category of Dharma with a mind free from hesitation and doubt, hold it, recite it, read it, comprehend it completely, and also extensively and accurately reveal it to others. Then, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva Immaculate Essence said this to the Bhagavan: "Bhagavan, even after the Bhagavan has passed into complete nirvana, I will closely accomplish fearlessness for any Bodhisattva who, with a mind free from hesitation and doubt, holds this category of Dharma, retains it, reads it, comprehends it completely, and also extensively and accurately reveals it to others." Then, the evil Mara, wailing and lamenting, went to where the Bhagavan was, and having gone, said this to the Bhagavan: "Bhagavan, the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha is endowed with great compassion and bestows great happiness upon suffering sentient beings. Bhagavan, I beseech you not to bless this category of Dharma again, in order to completely dispel my displeasure. Bhagavan, when the Bhagavan was dwelling at the heart of enlightenment, and now, when this category of Dharma is being taught, I am suffering greatly here, and I am unhappy, and I am tormented by the arrow of sorrow. Bhagavan, even if the name of this category of Dharma is heard by any sentient beings, all of them will not turn back from the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment. What need is there to mention those who, having heard it, hold it, retain it, read it, comprehend it completely, and also extensively and accurately reveal it to others? All of them will not turn back from the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment. What need is there to say? All those sentient beings will completely pacify.
