is the near-abode of all things. Peaceful Wisdom, for example, the sky is unchanging and without conceptualization. Peaceful Wisdom, the body of the Thus-Gone One is also without change and without conceptualization. Peaceful Wisdom, for example, the sky enters into all appearances of form. Peaceful Wisdom, similarly, the body of the Thus-Gone One also enters into all appearances of sentient beings. Peaceful Wisdom, for example, in the sky, all appearances of form are contained. Peaceful Wisdom, similarly, in the body of the Thus-Gone One, all appearances of sentient beings are contained. Peaceful Wisdom, for example, in the sky, all grasses, trees, shrubs, medicines, and forests grow. Peaceful Wisdom, similarly, from the body of the Thus-Gone One, all the roots of virtue of all sentient beings grow. Peaceful Wisdom, for example, the sky is neither permanent nor impermanent, it is not spoken of in any way. Peaceful Wisdom, similarly, the body of the Thus-Gone One is neither permanent nor impermanent, it is not spoken of in any way. Peaceful Wisdom, the Thus-Gone Ones, the Arhats, the perfectly complete Buddhas, their crown protuberance is not seen. Peaceful Wisdom, if anyone is able to see the crown protuberance of the Thus-Gone One, then I have not seen in the world with gods, with demons, with Brahma, and with ascetics and Brahmins, and in the world inhabited by gods, humans, and asuras. Why is that? Peaceful Wisdom, I know this manifestly: not long after the Blessed One became perfectly enlightened, while turning the wheel of Dharma in the Deer Park of Varanasi, on one occasion, from the eastern direction, from the Buddha-field world of the Thus-Gone One of Champaka color, the subduer of enemies, a Bodhisattva named Strong Power came to this world of endurance in order to see the Blessed One, to pay homage, to make offerings, and to venerate. He to the Blessed One

Having bowed to the feet of the departed with his head, circumambulated three times, he sat before the Blessed One. Then, by the power of the Buddha, the Bodhisattva Strong Power thought to himself: "The Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, are not seen like the topknot, and their bodies are immeasurable and infinite. However, I shall seek the measure and extent of the Tathagata's body." After thinking this, the Bodhisattva Strong Power blessed his own body to be eighty-four thousand yojanas in size. Looking at the body of the Tathagata, he saw the body of the Tathagata to be six million eighty hundred thousand yojanas, and he thought to himself: "I have attained clairvoyance and am playing with the feet of miracles, so I shall seek the measure of the Tathagata's body even more extensively." After thinking this, by increasing the power of the Buddha and his own miraculous power, he passed hundreds of millions of Ganges sands of Buddha fields in the upper direction, and in the world called Lotus, he saw the Tathagata Lotus Glory King's Essence residing and seeking, and also teaching the Dharma there. The Bodhisattva Strong Power went there, and although he stayed in that world, he could not see the topknot of the Tathagata, nor could he discern the measure or extent of the Tathagata's body. Then, the Bodhisattva Strong Power went to where the Blessed One Tathagata Lotus Glory King's Essence was, and having gone, he bowed to the feet of the Blessed One Lotus Glory King's Essence with his head, circumambulated seven times, and sat before the Blessed One. He said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, from how long have we been here?" The Blessed One said: "Son of good family, you have come to this world from passing hundreds of millions of Ganges sands of Buddha fields." The Bodhisattva Strong Power said: "Blessed One, although we have been here for a long time, we have not even been able to see the top of the head of the Blessed One Tathagata Shakyamuni."

It is also difficult to fathom the measure or limit of the Buddha's body. The Blessed One said: 'Son of good family, even if you were to go upwards for kalpas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River with this very power and the power of miraculous manifestation, you would not be able to fathom the limit of the Blessed One's body. Son of good family, any other simile, such as taking the discipline of the Thus-Gone One as a simile, or meditation, or wisdom, or liberation, or the vision of the wisdom of liberation, or body, speech, and mind, or form and name as similes, all those similes are slanders against the Thus-Gone One. There is only one simile, and that is the simile of space. As great as space is, so great is the discipline of the Thus-Gone One. So great is meditation, so great is wisdom, so great is liberation, so great is the vision of the wisdom of liberation, so great is the body, so great is the speech, so great is the mind, so great is the form, so great is the name. Therefore, it should be understood that since space is immeasurable, the body of the Thus-Gone One is also immeasurable.' Peaceful Intelligence, then, the Bodhisattva Great Strength, having heard this teaching from the Blessed One, was amazed, satisfied, delighted, and rejoiced, and having generated joy and happiness, he bowed to the feet of the Blessed One with his head, circumambulated seven times, and disappeared from that Buddha-field. By the power of the Buddha and the power of his own miraculous abilities, with just a thought, he went to the world of endurance, to the presence of the Blessed One Shakyamuni. He bowed to the feet of the Blessed One with his head, circumambulated the Blessed One three times, and then sat down in front of the Blessed One with his palms joined together, and at that time he spoke these verses: Like space, unobstructed, for those who are in the Buddha's Dharma, if they wish to die in another place, that is truly miserable! In order to behold the Buddha's body, in hundreds of millions of Ganges, as many as the sands, in all the Buddha-fields, I.
