Why dedicate completely? To completely dedicate in order to dispel doubts about the Dharma. Just as the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and those sentient beings who practice the pure teachings, are dedicated to, so too, the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas completely dedicate those roots of virtue to all sentient beings. Thus, to completely dedicate in order to turn away sentient beings from the path of hell. To completely dedicate in order to cut off the stream of animal births. To completely dedicate in order to destroy the realm of Yama from its roots. To completely dedicate in order to completely cut off the stream of all the lower realms without exception. To completely dedicate in order that all those sentient beings may have faith in unsurpassed Bodhi and never turn back. To completely dedicate in order to fully attain the generation of the mind towards omniscience with superior intention. To completely dedicate in order not to abandon all the Buddhadharmas. To completely dedicate in order to attain the exceedingly blissful ground of omniscience. To completely dedicate in order to make all sentient beings completely pure. To completely dedicate in order to enable all sentient beings to comprehend infinite wisdom. Whatever root of virtue a Bodhisattva may have, with a mind that is inseparable from the aim of Bodhi, and with a mental activity that strives towards the aim of omniscience, and with a superior intention that is focused on taming oneself and taming others, and with skillful means that unite the complete maturation of oneself and others, and with liberation that is completely matured by following the conduct of a Bodhisattva and wisdom, and with the generation of the mind that has no abiding, and with the samadhi of companionship, and with dwelling in a home having previously generated great compassion, and with following one's own wife with a mind of love, and with undiminished practice, and with diligence through the exceedingly pure path of a Bodhisattva, and with proper diligence, and with practice, and with proper practice, and with increase and proper increase, and with proper collection through great aims, and with accomplishment, and with vastness, and with complete perfection, and with dwelling in a home, and with sons and

When dwelling together, one should dedicate in this way: When a Bodhisattva dwells in a household, whatever it may be, such as clothes, food, bedding, medicine for the cause of illness, utensils, going, coming, behavior and possessions, sitting, the karma arising from procreation, abiding in conduct, dignified conduct, the actions of body and speech, guarding the six senses, wiping one's own body, massaging, bathing, eating, drinking, adorning, tasting, stretching, bending, looking, looking all around, returning, waking up, making one's own body reliant. All of these Bodhisattvas possess the mind of all-knowing wisdom, diligently contemplating all-knowing wisdom, benefiting all sentient beings, cherishing happiness, making immeasurable aspirations for enlightenment, possessing an immeasurable mind, completely accumulating vast roots of virtue, diligently striving to protect all beings, constantly striving in virtue, reversing arrogance and carelessness, completely relying on the Dharma nature of all-knowing wisdom, having no other discriminations, aspirations, or mental activities, abiding in the enlightenment of all Buddhas, turning away from all aspects of affliction, possessing a mind to learn all the Bodhisattva's trainings, not losing the path of all-knowing wisdom, abiding in the ground of wisdom, possessing the place of the teachings, having great wisdom through virtue, gathering a great collection of virtuous roots like a bee, having a lineage that is extremely superior to all beings, without attachment to activities. By holding the instructions of all the Tathagatas in accordance with reality, therefore, there is nothing that is not dedicated to all-knowing wisdom. Thus, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva dwells in a household, he truly accumulates and accomplishes these roots of virtue. Completely dedicating, thus, when he is young, even if he gives some food or a few mouthfuls to beings belonging to the dog lineage, and to other kinds of animals that do not belong to this lineage, all of these are beneficial to themselves, are happiness to themselves, may the suffering of those animal births
