Furthermore, the seventh dedication of the Bodhisattvas; the eighth dedication of the Bodhisattvas, called "The Nature of the Tathagata"; the ninth dedication of the Bodhisattvas, called "Without Attachment, Bondage, or Liberation"; and the tenth dedication of the Bodhisattvas, called "Following the Immeasurable Realm of Dharma." O sons of the Victorious Ones, these ten dedications of the Bodhisattvas are spoken by the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the past, future, and present. They are speaking. They will speak. O sons of the Victorious Ones, what is the first dedication of the Bodhisattvas, called "Stopping the Perceptions of Sentient Beings and Completely Protecting All Beings"? O sons of the Victorious Ones, in this case, a Bodhisattva may be diligently applying themselves to the perfection of generosity, or thoroughly purifying themselves in the perfection of ethics, or contemplating the perfection of patience, or initiating the perfection of diligence, or discriminating the perfection of meditation, or entering into the perfection of wisdom, or properly generating the cultivation of loving-kindness, or cherishing with compassion, or rejoicing in joy, or abiding greatly in equanimity. Having thoroughly contemplated the roots of virtue, diligently applying themselves to this and that root of virtue, and distinguishing the immeasurable roots of virtue, they generate the thought: "By which root of virtue will the evil destinies of sentient beings in the hell realms be forever cut off, the birthplaces of animals, and the aggregates of suffering of beings in the realm of Yama be completely reversed? Which root of virtue will benefit all beings in a completely pure and ultimate way?" Thus, when these roots of virtue are properly generated, they dedicate in this way: "By this root of virtue, in order to completely avert all aggregates of suffering, may I become a refuge for all sentient beings! In order to be completely liberated from all afflictions, may I become all sentient beings."

May I become a support for all beings! To protect from all fears, may I become a refuge for all sentient beings! In order to attain the state of omniscience, may I become a path for all sentient beings! In order to attain perfect bliss, may I become a support for all sentient beings! In order to truly reveal the light of wisdom without obscuration, may I become a light for all sentient beings! In order to completely dispel the darkness of ignorance, may I become a lamp for all sentient beings! In order to greatly rejoice in purity, may I become a candle for all sentient beings! In order to introduce the Dharma, may I become a guide for all sentient beings! In order to reveal the aggregate of wisdom without obscuration, may I become a complete guide for all sentient beings. Thus, for the benefit of all beings, may these roots of virtue be completely dedicated to the ultimate of omniscience. Just as dedication is made to protect friends, so too is it dedicated to protect non-friends. Why? Because Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, with the thought of regarding all beings as themselves, have no non-friends. This is because Bodhisattvas truly arise in the equality of all dharmas. They think, "All those who act as non-friends to Bodhisattvas are planting roots of virtue in my continuum." They look upon all with eyes that do not hate any object of any sentient being. Bodhisattva Mahasattvas are the virtuous friends of all beings, and they engage in order to truly reveal the virtuous Dharma to all sentient beings. For example, the great ocean cannot be poisoned by all poisons. Similarly, Bodhisattvas cannot be harmed by all the childish beings who are ungrateful, attached, mentally disturbed, impure, turned to darkness, have lost their nature, are full of pride, have degenerated in practice, and whose minds are like blind fools. For example, when the son of the gods, the sun, rises,

My faults will not become obstacles. The faults of the city of Gandharvas will not become obstacles. The faults of the dust of the four continents' world will not become obstacles. The faults of the Asura king Rahu will not become obstacles. The faults of dense smoke will not become obstacles. The faults of the afflictions near Jambudvipa will not become obstacles. The faults of various shadows will not become obstacles. The faults of the poison mountain will not become obstacles. The faults of the afflictions near the realm will not become obstacles. The faults of the complete change of seasons will not become obstacles. Likewise, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, possessing mindfulness and correct knowledge, with a great mind that is exceedingly profound and vast, correctly contemplating in his mind, not being timid, having reached the peak of wisdom through the practice of virtues, having arisen a mind of great faith in the Dharma, being illuminated by the light of the appearance of the Dharma, seeing all things, comprehending the Dharma, diligently engaging in actionless wisdom, thoroughly engaging all sentient beings in the practice of virtuous Dharma, being without confusion regarding the arising of evil thoughts by all sentient beings, when he completely dedicates those roots of virtue, he will not be obstructed by the faults of all harm-doers. He will not be turned back by the behavior of untamed sentient beings. He will not be separated from the complete dedication of virtuous roots by the confusion of the views of sentient beings. He will not be turned back by the disturbed minds of sentient beings. He will not be far from donning the great armor of a Bodhisattva due to sentient beings losing their minds. He will not be bound by all the confusion of the disturbances of the aspiration to completely protect all beings. The great endeavor of a Bodhisattva will not be relaxed by seeing sentient beings who are ungrateful. The roots of virtue aimed at enlightenment will not shrink due to the power of untamed sentient beings. He will not retreat from associating with childish individuals from acting virtuously as it is. He will not be discouraged by the faults of other sentient beings.
