Meditation is also like that. Just as at the crossroads of a road, All perfections are spoken of, But I cannot attain them, Not meditating on the Dharma is also like that. Then, Bodhisattva Manjushri said to Bodhisattva Yeshe Pal (Glorious Wisdom) as follows: "O son of the Victorious One, since the wisdom of the Thus-Gone One's teachings is the forerunner, Why does the Thus-Gone One speak of generosity to some sentient beings, morality to some, patience to some, diligence to some, meditation to some, wisdom to some, loving-kindness to some, compassion to some, joy to some, and equanimity to some, Yet cannot attain unsurpassable, perfectly complete enlightenment with just one Dharma?" Then, Bodhisattva Yeshe Pal (Glorious Wisdom) spoke to Bodhisattva Manjushri in verse: "Knowing the thoughts of other sentient beings, Is truly rare and wonderful. Thus, whoever asks me this question, Son of the Buddha, listen to me. No matter how excellent the speech, It cannot arise from just one Dharma. Whatever arises does not exist, What is about to arise is also the same. For those who abide in any eon, Knowing their thoughts, he acts for their benefit, To whomever, in whatever way is appropriate, He also teaches the Dharma in that way. To the miserly, he speaks of generosity, To those with bad morality, he speaks of morality. To the intolerant, with patience, To the lazy who lack diligence, he speaks of diligence. To the distracted, he speaks of meditation, To those who lack wisdom, he speaks of wisdom. To the malicious mind, he speaks of loving-kindness, To those who harm, he speaks of compassion. To the dejected, he speaks of joy, To the mind of samsara, he speaks of equanimity. All the Buddha's teachings, Arise in such a sequence. Just as working on the land, There is a sequence for household goods. Thus, generosity and morality, Go first for the Bodhisattva. The king's residence and towns, Have walls for suitability. Thus, patience and diligence, Are for the Bodhisattva's suitability. Just as a single umbrella, the king, Protects all the lands. Thus, meditation and wisdom, Are like the Bodhisattva's refuge. The wheel-turning king,

Just as giving all happiness, so too do the abodes of Brahma produce the happiness of Bodhisattvas. Then, the Bodhisattva Manjushri said to the Bodhisattva Bhadrapala: 'O son of the Victorious One, since the arising of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, is one, why are there various different activities in the Buddhafields, such as different world realms, different teachings, different ways of taming sentient beings, different lengths of life, different circles of light, different miracles and transformations, different assemblies of retinues, different ways of teaching, and different blessings of the Dharma? If all the qualities of the Buddha are not completely perfected, one cannot attain the unexcelled, perfectly complete enlightenment.' Then, the Bodhisattva Bhadrapala spoke to the Bodhisattva Manjushri in verses: 'The Dharma King, the nature of Dharma, Manjushri, is always one, The arising of the unobstructed vision is also one. All Buddhas are one body, The Tathagata's Dharmakaya, The wisdom mind is also one, And so is the fearless power. When entering Bodhi in the past, How did they completely dedicate themselves? Teaching the Dharma in the retinue, Their fields also transform in the same way. Whatever excellence there is in the fields, All is accomplished for the Buddhas. Those who have tamed as many sentient beings, See their forms in that way. How, in the nature of the Buddha, Do all not see the Buddha? The Buddhafields and bodies, And the Dharma taught in the retinue are the same. Those who have harmonious aspirations, And have completely purified their thoughts in the past, All those who see the manner of all, See everything as it is. As the thoughts of sentient beings are, And as their actions and powers are, In that way, they are seen, These are the transformations of the Buddhas. There is no conceptualization in the Buddhafields, They do not have love and hatred, As the manner of thoughts is, So do beings see it.'
