The Fifteenth Chapter: The Chapter on Light, Asked by the Bodhisattva. The Fifteenth Chapter: The Chapter on Light, Asked by the Bodhisattva. The Great Sutra Called "Buddha's Excellence." Seventeenth Volume. Then, Bodhisattva Manjushri said to Bodhisattva Buddhasri: O sons of the Victorious Ones, regarding the mind of the same nature, observe the appearances of such various differences, such as those who go to happy realms, those who go to bad realms, those with complete faculties, those with incomplete faculties, those with agreeable births, those with disagreeable births, the beautiful, the ugly, those who experience happiness, and those who experience suffering. Actions do not know the mind. The mind does not know actions. Feeling does not know ripening. Ripening does not know feeling. The mind does not know feeling. Feeling does not know the mind. Cause does not know condition. Condition does not know cause. Objects do not know the object of focus. The object of focus does not know objects. Then, Bodhisattva Buddhasri spoke to Bodhisattva Manjushri in verse: For the sake of showing beings, Whatever questions are asked, What is the nature of all dharmas? Manjushri, please listen from me. These dharmas are all unmoving, Extremely without self-entity, Therefore, others of others, Do not know their own nature. Like the continuity of rivers, When they meet with others, One does not know the other, The nature of dharma is just like that. Like those with the mark of burning, Light radiating meets with others, One does not know the other, The nature of dharma is just like that. Like the wind in the manner of support, Runs between others and others, One does not know the other, The nature of dharma is just like that. Like the aspects of the earth element, One changes its place in another, One does not know the other, The nature of dharma is just like that. The eyes, ears, noses, and other senses, The tongue, body, and mind senses, Although these paths are practiced, There is no actor whatsoever. Those without the nature of arising

Sa. Although the aggregates have been shown, there is nothing that has been shown. There is no entity in what is shown. The eye is empty of its own nature. The ear and nose are also empty of their own nature. The tongue, body, and mind are also non-existent, being merely imputed. Whoever properly understands that there is no self-nature of reality, their eye has no delusion. The Dharma eye is inconceivable. True and untrue, whether true or false, all that is beyond the world and the world itself are declared by the action of speech. Then, the Bodhisattva Manjushri said to the Bodhisattva Ratnakara: O sons of the Victorious Ones, although all sentient beings are without sentient beings, how does the Tathagata descend at the time of taming sentient beings? And how is the life of sentient beings, how is the body, how is the conduct, how is the inclination, how is the sign, how is the thought, how is the application, how is the mind, and how is the behavior? Thus, sentient beings see for the sake of taming sentient beings. Then, the Bodhisattva Ratnakara spoke in verses to the Bodhisattva Manjushri: Whoever practices well in peace and possesses learning, this is their ground. How is this meaning, Manjushri, please listen to me. Who dwells in my body? Who knows well within? The meaning of whether it truly exists or does not exist, they know well. The establishment of the body is the declaration of not dwelling in a place. Therefore, that wisdom never clings to that place. By the conduct of the body, all things are truly meditated upon. The mind does not turn back, but observes from all things. When it follows, when it turns back and changes. Just like the beginning and end of a fire wheel turning. All things are impermanent, whoever realizes this, because there is no self in the body, consciousness also turns back. Selflessness is like a dream, actions arise completely. They arise from ripening. How is the future life, so is the previous life. The mind is said to be the one who acts as the master. How is the principle of faith, it is not according to the principle.

Then, what is reversed shows all the worlds. All the expressions of the world are examined. The nature of Dharma never abides in one Dharma. Depending on various conditions, the Dharmas arise distinctly. The latter is like the former, and they change in the same way when reversed. Then, the Bodhisattva Manjushri said to the Bodhisattva Ratnakirti: "O sons of the Victorious Ones, although the four great elements of all sentient beings are without grasping, without self, and equal, nevertheless, feelings of pleasure appear, and feelings of suffering appear. What is pleasant and what is unpleasant, what is internal and what is external, small feelings and large feelings, what is experienced in this life and what is experienced in another life also appear. However, in the realm of Dharma, there is neither what is pleasant nor what is unpleasant, why is this?" Then, the Bodhisattva Ratnakirti spoke to the Bodhisattva Manjushri in verses: "Just as actions are done, feelings will arise accordingly. There is no doer in this, this is the teaching of the Buddha. Just as in a very polished mirror, how the face is present, it appears in it in the same way, so is the nature of Dharma. Just as fields and seeds, although they do not know each other, they show their own nature closely, so is the nature of Karma. Just as a skilled magician, walking on a wide road, shows various forms, so is the nature of Karma. Just as wooden machines, utter various sounds, yet it is neither self nor selfless, so is the nature of Karma. Just as many birds, from breaking open the eggshell, different sounds change, so is the nature of Karma. Just as in the mother's womb, the fetus does not move, yet various senses change, so is the nature of Karma. Just as in the terror of hell, the retinue of Yama brings suffering, they have no origin for those sufferings, so is the nature of Karma. Just as
