Shariputra, in the future, in the last five hundred years of the degenerate age, when the sacred Dharma is about to perish, Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas endowed with morality, endowed with virtues, and endowed with wisdom will appear. Shariputra, these Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas will not have served and honored just one Buddha, nor will they have planted roots of virtue in just one Buddha. Shariputra, Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas who have served and honored hundreds of thousands of Buddhas and planted roots of virtue in hundreds of thousands of Buddhas will appear. Those who gain even a single thought of faith in this kind of sutra teaching, Shariputra, the Tathagata knows them. Shariputra, the Tathagata sees them. Shariputra, all those sentient beings will generate and accumulate immeasurable accumulations of merit. Why is that? Shariputra, those Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas will not engage in the perception of self, nor will they perceive sentient beings, nor will they perceive life, nor will they engage in the perception of person. Shariputra, those Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas will not engage in the perception of Dharma, nor will they engage in the perception of non-Dharma. They will not engage in perception or non-perception. Why is that? Shariputra, if those Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas engage in the perception of Dharma, then they will be attached to self, attached to sentient beings, attached to life, and attached to person. If they engage in the perception of non-Dharma, then they will be attached to self, attached to sentient beings, attached to life, and attached to person. Why is that? Furthermore, Shariputra, Bodhisattvas should not wrongly grasp the Dharma, nor should they grasp what is not Dharma. Therefore, with that in mind, the Tathagata said that those who understand the nature of Dharma as being like a raft should abandon even the Dharmas, let alone what is not Dharma. Furthermore, the Bhagavan said to the venerable Sha
