One will be born in Buddha-fields inseparable from the Tathāgatas, abandon unfavorable conditions, and obtain a leisure and fully endowed body. Son of good family, you should fully understand these benefits and generate the perception that the Dharma-preaching monk is a teacher. Son of good family, you should not follow the Dharma-preaching monk like dust, with a mindstream filled with worldly distractions. You should follow the Dharma-preaching monk like a shadow, seeking the Dharma and respecting the Dharma. You should also understand the activities of the demons. Son of good family, the evil demon approaches Bodhisattva-Mahāsattvas in order to cause them to attend to, rely on, and engage in forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile objects. There are also those Dharma-speakers who are subdued by them and skillfully associate with, rely on, and attend to them. Son of good family, you should not generate disbelief in that Dharma-preaching monk. Otherwise, you should generate this thought: 'Although I do not know that skillful means, this is the ultimate in skillful means.' This is how they rely on, associate with, and attend to these Dharmas in order to fully grasp the roots of virtue of sentient beings by means of taming sentient beings, but Bodhisattva-Mahāsattvas have no attachment or obscuration to anything. In that very instant, son of good family, you yourself should examine the true nature of the Dharmas individually. Son of good family, what is the true nature of the Dharmas? It is like this: all Dharmas are neither completely defiled nor completely purified. Why is that? All Dharmas are empty by their very nature. All Dharmas are without sentient beings, without life, without nourishment, without a person, without an individual, without a human being, like an illusion, like a dream, like a reflection, like a mirage. Son of good family, if you understand the true nature of all Dharmas in this way and follow the Dharma-preacher, you will undoubtedly attain certainty in the Perfection of Wisdom before long. Son of good family, furthermore, you should pay attention to the activities of the demons.

Son of good family, if the preachers despise and displease a son of good family who seeks the Perfection of Wisdom, then, son of good family, you should not dedicate merit to them. Otherwise, in order to seek the Dharma, to respect the Dharma, and without discouragement, one should follow after the Dharma-speaking monks. Thus it was also heard. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva constantly took this teaching from that sound and went to the east. Before long, he thought to himself: I did not ask that sound how long I should go. Thinking this, he in that direction wept and wailed, he sat there grieving and lamenting. He thought to himself: In this very place, I will spend one day and night. Or two days, three days. Or four, five, six, or even spend seven days and nights. Until I hear the Perfection of Wisdom. I will not generate the thought of physical fatigue, I will not generate the thought of drowsiness and sleep, I will not generate the thought of food, I will not generate the thought of drink, I will not generate the thought of night, I will not generate the thought of day, I will not generate the thought of cold, I will not generate the thought of heat. Thus he thought. Subhuti, for example, if a person is in great pain and discomfort when his only son dies, no other thought arises except the thought of grief for his son. Subhuti, similarly, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva constantly at that time, no other thought arose except "When will I hear the Perfection of Wisdom?" Subhuti, then, as the Bodhisattva Mahasattva was constantly sitting there grieving in this way, a form of the Tathagata appeared before him and gave praise, saying: Well done! Well done! Son of good family, it is good, good that you speak such words! Son of good family, just as you are seeking now, so too the Tathagatas, Arhats of the past

Even the Buddhas who have attained perfect enlightenment in the past, when practicing the conduct of Bodhisattvas, thoroughly sought after the Prajñāpāramitā. Noble son, therefore, you should follow with this diligence, this joy, this pursuit, and this desire, and go to the east. Noble son, five hundred yojanas from here, there is a city called "Endowed with Fragrance," made of seven precious substances, surrounded by seven layers of walls. It is completely surrounded by seven layers of moats and seven rows of palm trees. The water area is vast, twelve yojanas in length and twelve yojanas in width, rich in resources, peaceful and prosperous, with abundant harvests, many people, and a thriving population. The rows of shops in the middle are like cloths painted with various patterns, neatly arranged, without flaws, smooth and uniform. People, vehicles, riding animals, and pedestrians can pass without any obstruction, and the ground is meticulously cleaned with five kinds of incense. The city is surrounded by seven precious substances for the sake of beauty. The battlements of those seven precious walls are made of gold from the Jambu River, tall and well-proportioned. At the top of all the battlements grow trees made of seven precious substances, bearing fruits that shine with various jewels. From all the trees that grow from the battlements, ropes made of precious substances emerge, connecting to the other trees of the second battlement, and the city is covered with a net of golden bells. When the wind blows on those bell nets, they emit a soft and pleasant sound, which is delightful and pleasing. Just like various musical instruments with five components, when played and performed by skilled musicians, they produce soft, pleasant, and delightful sounds. Similarly, when the wind blows on those bell nets, they emit soft, pleasant, and delightful sounds. That sound makes sentient beings play happily and enjoy themselves to the fullest. The city is surrounded by moats filled with water flowing smoothly. The water is neither too cold nor too
