If, upon hearing someone say, "These words are the Buddha's teachings," a Bodhisattva becomes agitated and wavers, Subhuti, this Bodhisattva has not been predicted by the Tathagatas. This Bodhisattva is not certain to attain unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and it should be known that he does not abide in the state of non-retrogression. Furthermore, Subhuti, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, upon hearing these words from an evil Mara, does not become agitated or waver, and relies on the nature of reality, relying on non-arising, non-cessation, and non-manifestation, not depending on others, and not acting for the sake of others' faith, then, Subhuti, just as a Bhikshu Arhat who has exhausted defilements does not follow others' faith but directly realizes the nature of reality and is not robbed by the evil Mara, similarly, Subhuti, a non-retrogressing Bodhisattva Mahasattva is not shaken by individuals of the Hearer Vehicle or the Solitary Buddha Vehicle, and will not become one who is of the nature of non-retrogression to the state of a Hearer or a Solitary Buddha. He is certain to attain omniscience and will be devoted to perfect enlightenment. Furthermore, Subhuti, when that Bodhisattva Mahasattva abides in the state of non-retrogression, he will not depend on others. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who possesses these aspects, these signs, these characteristics, should be regarded as non-retrogressing from unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. The Eight Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita, Chapter Sixteen. Furthermore, Subhuti, if someone comes to a non-retrogressing Bodhisattva Mahasattva and says, "This conduct of a Bodhisattva is the conduct of samsara. You should end suffering right here and not experience suffering and discomfort in samsara again. Alas, do not do that for a while. Since this body of yours has not yet been accomplished, how could you think of taking another body?" If he does not

does not waver. The evil Mara himself came there and said to him: "Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas who have served the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, with robes, alms, beds, medicines for the sick, and utensils for as many kalpas as there are sands in the Ganges River, and who have practiced pure conduct in the presence of as many Buddhas, the Bhagavat, as there are sands in the Ganges River, and who have revered as many Buddhas, the Bhagavat, as there are sands in the Ganges River, and who have asked, written, and questioned how Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas should abide for the sake of this vehicle of the Bodhisattva. As the Tathagatas have taught how Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas should abide, so they abide, so they practice, so they do yoga, but they still have not fully awakened to the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment. If they have not attained omniscience even by adhering to and following such instructions, and by learning in such a way, then how can you attain the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment?" After saying this, if he does not become disturbed or waver even by that, the evil Mara then manifests monks in that very place and says: "These monks who are Arhats, who have exhausted their defilements, have entered into enlightenment and have now attained Arhatship and abide in Arhatship. How can you attain the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment?" If such words are spoken and such instructions are given to a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, but his mind does not become disturbed or waver, then that Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should be regarded as irreversible from the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment. If a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva hears such divisive words from others, and his mind does not completely degenerate from the nature of reality, his mind does not turn back, his mind does not change, and he knows all those deeds of Mara in that way, then, Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva

It is impossible and there is no opportunity for a great Bodhisattva who practices the perfections in that way to not attain omniscience. It is impossible and there is no opportunity for the evil one to find an opportunity to harm a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices and trains in that way, who does not stray from the conduct spoken by the Tathagata, and who does not stray from the mental activities that possess the perfections. If a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva understands the activities of the evil one and hears words that cause him to be separated from them, he will not be completely lost, his mind will not turn back, and his mind will not change. If he knows the activities of the evil one in that way, then a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who possesses those aspects, those signs, and those characteristics should also be regarded as irreversible from unexcelled, perfect, complete enlightenment. Furthermore, Subhuti, an irreversible Bodhisattva-Mahasattva does not manifest the perception of form, nor does he generate the perception of form. Similarly, he does not manifest the perception of feeling, the perception of perception, the perception of formations, or the perception of consciousness, nor does he generate the perception of consciousness. Why is that? Because an irreversible Bodhisattva-Mahasattva enters into all phenomena without any fault of the Bodhisattva, because of the emptiness of his own nature, and he does not perceive those phenomena, nor does he manifest or generate them. Therefore, it is called obtaining the tolerance of unborn wisdom. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who possesses those aspects, those signs, and those characteristics should also be regarded as irreversible from unexcelled, perfect, complete enlightenment. Furthermore, Subhuti, the evil one transforms himself into the appearance of a monk and comes near to the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, and in this way causes the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva's intention to turn back: "Like this, omniscience is equal to space. Like this, omniscience
