Because those discriminations do not exist. Why is that? Because the perfection of generosity is not a perfection. Similarly, the perfections of ethics, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom do not have those discriminations. Why is that? Because the perfection of wisdom is not a perfection. Subhuti, when bodhisattva-vehicle beings give, if they do not know the limits of the object of focus, then they are not fully grasped by the perfection of generosity. Similarly, when guarding ethics, meditating on patience, initiating diligence, entering into meditation, and meditating on wisdom, if they do not know the limits of the object of focus, then they are not fully grasped by the perfection of wisdom. If they are not fully grasped by those six perfections, then they are not fully grasped by all-aspects knowing. They will fall into the ground of hearers or solitary buddhas. Subhuti, in that way, bodhisattva-vehicle beings are unskilled in means. Subhuti, how are bodhisattva-vehicle beings skilled in means? They do not fall into the ground of hearers or solitary buddhas, but fully grasp unexcelled, perfect, complete enlightenment. Subhuti, here, bodhisattva-vehicle beings are initially skilled in means, and with a mind that does not fall into grasping at self and grasping at what belongs to self, they give gifts. Similarly, skilled in means, with a mind that does not fall into grasping at self and grasping at what belongs to self, they meditate up to wisdom. When giving those gifts, they think, "We are giving gifts, these are to be given, we should give to these beggars." Similarly, "We are guarding ethics, we possess ethics, we are cultivating patience, we possess patience, we

We are the authors of diligence. We are the possessors of diligence. We are the equal placers in meditation. We are the possessors of meditation. We are the cultivators of wisdom. We are the possessors of wisdom, do not think like that. They do not become arrogant about that giving. They do not become arrogant because of giving. They do not become arrogant with giving. They do not become arrogant towards giving. Similarly, they do not become arrogant about that discipline, that patience, that diligence, those meditations, and that wisdom. They do not become arrogant because of wisdom. They do not become arrogant with wisdom. They do not become arrogant towards wisdom. Why is that? Because, Subhuti, there are no those discriminations for the perfection of giving. Therefore, they do not become arrogant. Similarly, there are no those discriminations for the perfection of discipline. Therefore, they do not become arrogant. Why is that? For example, this perfection of giving is not a perfection. Similarly, for example, up to the perfection of wisdom is not a perfection. Thus, they directly realize what is not a perfection, and they are completely grasped by the perfection of giving. It is the same up to the perfection of wisdom. Because those six perfections are well and completely grasped, the omniscience itself is well and completely grasped. Because it is well and completely grasped, they will not fall into the ground of hearers or solitary buddhas, and they will also attain omniscience. Subhuti, therefore, the being of the bodhisattva vehicle is skillful in means, not falling into the ground of hearers or solitary buddhas, and also completely holding the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment. Question: Venerable Bhagavan, how should a bodhisattva mahasattva who is a beginner train in the perfection of wisdom? How should they train in the perfection of meditation and the diligence of

How should one train in the perfection of discipline, the perfection of patience, the perfection of discipline, and the perfection of generosity? After this was asked, the Blessed One spoke thus to the venerable Subhuti: Subhuti, here, a bodhisattva who is a beginner who wishes to train in the perfection of wisdom, and likewise wishes to train in the perfection of concentration, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of patience, the perfection of discipline, and the perfection of generosity, should rely on and respect virtuous friends who demonstrate the perfection of wisdom, and likewise demonstrate the perfection of concentration, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of patience, the perfection of discipline, and the perfection of generosity. These will reveal this profound perfection of wisdom to that bodhisattva. Son of good family, come here! Whatever you give to sentient beings, share it with all sentient beings, and dedicate it to unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment in a non-grasping manner. You should not conceive of that unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment as form, nor should you conceive of it as feeling, perception, formation, or consciousness. Likewise, whatever discipline you keep, whatever patience you cultivate, whatever diligence you undertake, whatever concentration you enter into, whatever wisdom you cultivate, share all of these with all sentient beings, and dedicate them to unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment in a non-grasping manner. Likewise, you should not conceive of that unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment as form, nor should you conceive of it as feeling, perception, formation, or consciousness. You should not conceive of that unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment as the perfection of generosity. the perfection of discipline and patience
