And the limb of perfect enlightenment, the diligence limb of perfect enlightenment, the joy limb of perfect enlightenment, the exceedingly disciplined limb of perfect enlightenment, the samadhi limb of perfect enlightenment, the equanimity limb of perfect enlightenment, these are called the seven limbs of enlightenment. What are the eight limbs of the noble path? Namely, right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right samadhi. These are called the eight limbs of the noble path. What is the gate of liberation, emptiness? Namely, the mind abiding in the individual discernment that all phenomena are empty of their own nature, the gate of liberation, emptiness, that is called the gate of liberation, emptiness. What is the gate of liberation, signlessness? Namely, the mind abiding in the individual complete discernment that all phenomena are signless by their own nature, the gate of liberation, signlessness, that is called the gate of liberation, signlessness. What is the gate of liberation, wishlessness? Namely, since all phenomena are without manifestation, the mind abides without manifestation, the gate of liberation, wishlessness, that is called the gate of liberation, wishlessness. What are the four dhyanas? Namely, secluded from desires, secluded from sinful and unwholesome dharmas, with initial application and sustained application, the first dhyana born of seclusion, endowed with joy and pleasure, having cultivated it, one abides. Then, free from initial application and sustained application, inwardly purified, the mind becomes unified, without initial application, without sustained application, the second dhyana born of samadhi, endowed with joy and pleasure, having cultivated it, one abides. Then, free from the desire for joy, abiding in equanimity, being mindful and fully aware, experiencing pleasure with the body, the noble ones say of that one, "Endowed with mindfulness, endowed with pleasure, abiding in pleasure, equanimous," the joy ceases.
