Having heard this, I will quickly become irreversible from the unexcelled, perfectly complete enlightenment. I will attend upon the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the perfectly complete Buddhas, and I will be born in Buddha-fields that are inseparable from the Tathagatas. I will abandon the unfavorable conditions, and I will obtain the leisure and endowments. Son of good family, you should fully realize these benefits, and you should generate the perception of the Dharma-speaking monk as the teacher. Son of good family, you should not follow the Dharma-speaking monk with a mindstream that is filled with worldly distractions. You should follow the Dharma-speaking monk by seeking the meaning of the Dharma from him, and by respecting the Dharma. You should understand the actions of the demons. Son of good family, the evil demon approaches the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas in order to cause them to attend, serve, and engage with forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile objects. After those Bodhisattvas have been subdued by him, they associate with him, serve him, and attend upon him with skillful means. Son of good family, you should not generate disbelief in that Dharma-speaking monk. Otherwise, you should generate a mind like this: 'I do not know that skillful means, but this one knows skillful means very well.' This is how he relies on, associates with, and attends to these things in order to completely take up the roots of virtue of sentient beings by means of taming sentient beings. The Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas have no attachment or obscuration to anything. In that very instant, son of good family, you yourself should examine the true nature separately. Son of good family, what is the true nature of the dharmas? It is like this: all dharmas are not completely defiled, nor are they completely purified. Why is that? Because all dharmas are empty of inherent existence. All dharmas are without sentient beings, without life, without a person, like an illusion, like a dream, like an echo, like a mirage. Son of good family, you should realize the true nature of the dharmas in that way, and you should

Following, it will not be long before you will surely realize the Prajñāpāramitā. Furthermore, son of good family, you should contemplate the deeds of Māra. Son of good family, if the preachers of the Dharma despise and are displeased with the son of good family who desires the Prajñāpāramitā, then, son of good family, you should not abandon them. Otherwise, it is not seeking the Dharma, not respecting the Dharma, and without discouragement, one should follow after the Dharma-preaching monks, so it is heard. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahāsattva Sadāprarudita, having taken this instruction from that voice, went to the east, and before long, he thought to himself: I did not ask that voice how long I should go. Thinking, he was weeping and lamenting in that place, wailing and sitting. He spent one day in that place, or two days, or three, or four, or five, or seven, even if the Prajñāpāramitā was not heard, he would not give rise to the thought of physical fatigue, he would not give rise to the thought of drowsiness and sleep, he would not give rise to the thought of food, he would not give rise to the thought of drink, he would not give rise to the thought of night, he would not give rise to the thought of day, he would not give rise to the thought of cold, he would not give rise to the thought of heat. Subhūti, for example, if a certain man's only son dies, he will be filled with suffering and great displeasure, and apart from thinking of his only son, no other thought will arise. Subhūti, similarly, the Bodhisattva Mahāsattva Sadāprarudita, at that time, apart from thinking when will I hear the Prajñāpāramitā, no other thought will arise. Subhūti, then, in front of the Bodhisattva Mahāsattva Sadāprarudita, who was sitting so grieving, an image of the Tathāgata appeared and gave praise, Son of good family, it is very good, very good that you speak those words! Just as you are searching now, so were those of the past

The Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas, also, when practicing the conduct of Bodhisattvas in the past, have thoroughly sought the Perfection of Wisdom. Son of good family, therefore, you should follow with such diligence, such joy, such desire, and such intention, and go to the east. Son of good family, five hundred yojanas from here to the east, there is a city called Fragrant Abundance, made of seven precious materials, surrounded by seven layers of walls, with seven layers of moats and seven rows of palm trees completely surrounding it. Its water area is twelve yojanas long and twelve yojanas wide, prosperous and flourishing, peaceful and abundant, with many people and densely populated. Five hundred streets and lanes are evenly spaced and identical, filled as if painted in a picture. Countless pavilions stand tall, with bridges built in between. Around the city, the outer perimeter is well-made and surrounded by seven precious materials. The battlements of the seven precious walls are made of Jambu River gold, tall and well-proportioned. From the top of all the battlements grow trees of seven precious materials, bearing fruits of various precious jewels. From all the battlements and trees, ropes of precious jewels emerge, connecting one battlement to another. All the cities are covered with nets of golden bells, and when the wind blows on the golden bells, pleasant and melodious sounds arise, like a musical ensemble with five components, played and sung by skilled musicians, producing pleasant and melodious sounds. Similarly, when the wind blows on the bells, pleasant and melodious sounds arise, and beings rejoice and play. The city is surrounded by moats filled with flowing water, and the water is neither too cold nor too hot. In that water, there are boats made of seven precious materials, manifested by past karma, radiant and beautiful to behold. Beings enter them and play.
