As one proceeds in such a sequence, may one abide with unwavering resolve, free from any weariness. If a Bodhisattva desires to cycle through samsara for a long time, and a yogi who strives for the benefit of sentient beings and the purification of realms, if even a speck of weariness does not arise in their mind, then that one possesses the perfection of diligence, without any laziness. An unskilled Bodhisattva counts countless eons, if they perceive the practice of enlightenment as long and painful, when truly practicing the Dharma, it will turn into long-lasting suffering. Therefore, that one is a lazy person whose perfection of diligence has declined. From the very beginning of generating the supreme Bodhicitta, until the attainment of unsurpassed enlightenment, if one contemplates it even for a single day and night, the wise should recognize this as the beginning of diligence. If someone says that after the king of mountains collapses, one will attain supreme enlightenment, if they generate a measure of weariness equivalent to that, then that is a lazy Bodhisattva. If one thinks, 'What difficulty is there in merely trying this much?' and generates the thought of turning Mount Sumeru into ashes in an instant, this is the beginning of the diligence of a skilled Bodhisattva, and they will soon attain the supreme enlightenment that leads. If one says that one will act only after fully ripening all beings, if one strives diligently with body, speech, and mind, due to abiding in the thought of self-grasping, it is laziness, and one becomes as distant from omniscient wisdom as heaven is from earth. When there is no thought of body, mind, and sentient beings, and thoughts are completely transformed, and there is no duality.

declares emptiness. This is the tolerant one, to whom beings are delighted, the skillful one. If some beings take sandalwood splints, and with great respect smear them on the bodhisattva, while others scatter ashes on the bodhisattva's head, in both cases, he should generate an equal and balanced mind. Having patiently endured in this way, the skillful bodhisattva dedicates that mind generation to supreme enlightenment. The hero, through patience, conquers all enemies in the world, and surpasses arhats, pratyekabuddhas, and as many sentient beings as there are realms. One who practices patience should also generate this thought: "The hells, animals, the realm of Yama—there is much suffering. If I helplessly experience harm due to the causes of desirable qualities, why should I not practice patience now for the sake of enlightenment?" Whips, sticks, weapons, killing, binding, beating, beheading, cutting off ears, legs, arms, and noses—I will endure as many worldly sufferings as there are. The bodhisattva abides in the perfection of patience. Those who desire peace through discipline become noble. They abide in the sphere of activity of the ten powers, and their discipline is not diminished. They follow all activities of restraint, and dedicate that also to enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. If one desires to attain arhatship, pratyekabuddhahood, or enlightenment, but their discipline is lax, they are unskilled, and their conduct deteriorates. If one dedicates everything to the supreme peace of enlightenment, even if they strive for desirable qualities, they abide in the perfection of discipline. Whatever dharma definitely gives rise to the qualities of enlightenment, this is the meaning of discipline for those who possess qualities. Whatever dharma completely diminishes the benefit of enlightenment, the guides have said that this is lax discipline. If a bodhisattva enjoys the five desirable qualities, but takes refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, and thinks of achieving buddhahood, contemplating omniscience, the wise should know that they abide in the perfection of discipline. If one practices the ten paths of virtuous action for hundreds of millions of eons, but desires to attain arhatship or pratyekabuddhahood, at that time, there is a flaw in their discipline, and their discipline is diminished. That mind generation is heavier than even the root downfalls. Protecting discipline and dedicating it to supreme enlightenment, in that, there is no arrogance or self-
