Do you wish to awaken to the unexcelled, perfectly complete enlightenment? He replied: Blessed One, no. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, it is so, it is so. Subhuti, the perfection of giving does not awaken to the unexcelled, perfectly complete enlightenment. Even the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha do not awaken to the unexcelled, perfectly complete enlightenment. Why is that? Subhuti, because all these dharmas are conditioned and thought of. With conditioned and thought-of dharmas, one cannot attain omniscience. Subhuti, however, all these dharmas are what accomplish the path and generate the path, but they do not obtain the result. The unborn and unceasing nature of these dharmas is also the signless. Therefore, from the time a bodhisattva mahasattva first generates the mind, taking hold of it, whatever virtuous dharma he engages in, whether it be the perfection of giving, or even the perfection of wisdom, or even the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, he should fully understand all of them as being like an illusion. If he does not perfect the dharmas of the perfection of giving, and even the perfection of wisdom, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, he cannot ripen sentient beings, nor can he attain omniscience. Therefore, when a bodhisattva mahasattva practices the perfection of wisdom, whatever virtuous dharma he engages in, he should fully understand all of them as being like a dream. He should fully understand them as being like an emanation. When he practices the perfection of wisdom, he should fully understand everything up to omniscience as being like a dream. He should fully understand them as being like an emanation. He should also fully understand that these sentient beings also practice in what is like a dream. He should fully understand that they practice in what is like an emanation. Therefore, a bodhisattva

The brave bodhisattva mahasattva practices prajnaparamita. He perceives the illusion-like dharmas as devoid of inherent existence. By holding them in this way, he attains the all-knowingness. He perceives the dharmas in between as illusion-like, as devoid of inherent existence. By holding them in this way, he attains the all-knowingness. The perfection of generosity is ungraspable, and even the perfection of wisdom is ungraspable. Even the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha are ungraspable. Therefore, the bodhisattva mahasattva, having realized that all dharmas are ungraspable, enters into the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Why is that? Because all these dharmas are like dreams, and even like illusions, ungraspable and without inherent existence. Except that all sentient beings do not know or see these dharmas, one cannot attain the ungraspable dharma with the ungraspable dharma. Therefore, the bodhisattva mahasattva enters into the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings, from the moment he generates the first thought. Whatever he gives in generosity, he gives it all for the benefit of sentient beings. Whatever precepts he observes, whatever patience he cultivates, whatever diligence he initiates, whatever samadhi he enters into, whatever wisdom he cultivates, he cultivates all these for the benefit of sentient beings, not for himself. The bodhisattva mahasattva does not enter into the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment except for the benefit of sentient beings. When he practices prajnaparamita, if there are sentient beings who, in the absence of sentient beings, abide in the perception of sentient beings, and in the absence of self, abide in the perception of self, and also among the birth-giver, the child, the power-born, the life, the nourisher, the man, the person, the doer, the feeler, the one who causes to do, the seeker, the universal seeker, the knower, and the seer, he also sees in the absence of seeing.

Those sentient beings who abide in the notion of an agent, by the Bodhisattva Mahasattva practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, are completely liberated from perversions. Having been completely liberated from perversions, they are also established in the realm of immortality. Having been established there, these arising do not arise, do not transmigrate; even the notion of self arising, or the notion of an agent arising, does not arise; having abandoned all those wavering, moving, arrogance, and proliferations, they abide greatly, having perfected with a mind free from proliferation. Subhuti, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who practices the Perfection of Wisdom, being skilled in means, also has no manifest attachment to any dharma, and also establishes all sentient beings in that which has no manifest attachment, but that is merely a worldly expression, not the ultimate truth. Then, the venerable Subhuti said this to the Blessed One: Blessed One, the Dharma that the Tathagata manifestly and completely awakened to, did he manifestly and completely awaken to it in worldly terms, or in ultimate terms? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, the Tathagata has taught this Dharma. The Tathagata has manifestly and completely awakened to this Dharma. The term "the Tathagata has manifestly and completely awakened to this Dharma" is a designation established by worldly terms, and in that, there is nothing to be fixated on as 'this Dharma manifestly and completely awakened to such a Dharma.' Why is that? Because the term "this Dharma manifestly and completely awakened to such a Dharma" is an object of fixation, and because with duality there is nothing to be attained or realized. Then, the venerable Subhuti said this to the Blessed One: Blessed One, if it is not possible to attain or realize with duality, then is it possible to attain and realize with non-duality? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, it is not possible to realize with duality, nor is it possible to realize with non-duality, because for that which has neither duality nor non-duality
