The great hero has perfected the six perfections, perfected the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, and perfected the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, and the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha. With the vajra-like samadhi and the wisdom of a single moment of mind, he manifestly and completely awakens to unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment. All those who manifestly and completely awaken to unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment and become Buddhas are called Tathagatas, because they know all dharmas and see all dharmas. Therefore, they are called all-knowing. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One, "Blessed One, if all dharmas are empty of inherent existence, Blessed One, then how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva purify a Buddha-field?" After he said this, the Blessed One said to the venerable Subhuti, "Subhuti, in this case, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, from the moment of generating the first thought, purifies the evil deeds of body, speech, and mind of himself and others, and purifies the Buddha-field with these pure dharmas." After he said this, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One, "Blessed One, what are the evil deeds of body, speech, and mind of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva?" After he said this, the Blessed One said to the venerable Subhuti, "Subhuti, the non-virtuous actions of the body are killing, taking what is not given, and sexual misconduct; the non-virtuous actions of speech are lying, divisive speech, harsh speech, and idle chatter; the evil actions of the mind are covetousness, malice, and wrong views. These are the body

is a bad situation of... That is a bad situation of speech. That is a bad situation of mind, because Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas completely purify those bad situations of body, speech, and mind of themselves and others, and completely purify the Buddha-fields. Furthermore, Subhuti, whatever mind of stinginess there is, that is a bad situation of the mind of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. Whatever mind of immoral discipline, mind of strife, mind of laziness, mind of distraction, mind of non-concentration, mind of immoral wisdom there is, that also is a bad situation of the mind of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. Furthermore, Subhuti, whatever discipline is completely impure, that also is a bad situation of the mind of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. Furthermore, Subhuti, whatever is separated from the four mindfulnesses, that also is a bad situation of the mind of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. Similarly, whatever is separated from the four right abandonments, the four legs of magical power, the five faculties, the five powers, the seven branches of enlightenment, the eightfold noble path, the samadhi of emptiness, the samadhi of signlessness, the samadhi of wishlessness, that also is a bad situation of the mind of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. Furthermore, Subhuti, whatever is the manifestation of the fruit of stream-enterer and delight in that, that also is a bad situation of the mind of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. Whatever is the manifestation of Arhatship and even Pratyekabuddhahood, and delight in that, that also is a bad situation of the mind of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. Furthermore, Subhuti, perceiving form as such is a bad situation. Perceiving feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness as such is a bad situation. Perceiving the eye as such is a bad situation. Perceiving the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind as such is a bad situation. Perceiving woman as such is a bad situation. Perceiving man as such is a bad situation.

Furthermore, contemplating in the desire realm, contemplating in the form realm, contemplating in the formless realm, contemplating in virtue, contemplating in non-virtue, contemplating in the conditioned, contemplating in the unconditioned, whatever these are, Subhuti, are also the bodily misdeeds, verbal misdeeds, and mental misdeeds of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. Having completely abandoned these misdeeds, he himself also practices generosity and causes others to practice generosity. To those who desire food, he gives food; to those who desire drink, he gives drink; to those who desire implements, he gives whatever implements. He also establishes others in those very implements and causes others to practice generosity. He also dedicates that root of virtue in common with all sentient beings, dedicating it for the sake of purifying the Buddha-field. For discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom, one should also combine (dedicate) in the same way. He himself also, filling the three-thousand great-thousand world system with the seven precious substances, practices generosity for the sake of the Three Jewels, and also establishes others in this, and dedicates, saying: By this root of virtue, may the Buddha-field become made of the seven precious substances. Thus, he dedicates. Subhuti, furthermore, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva plays divine musical instruments before the Buddhas or stupas of the Buddhas. He dedicates thus: By this root of virtue, may the pleasing sound of divine musical instruments constantly and continuously arise in my Buddha-field. Subhuti, furthermore, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, filling the three-thousand great-thousand world system with divine incense, offers it to the Buddhas or the stupas of the Buddhas. He dedicates thus: By this root of virtue, may divine incense arise in my Buddha-field.
