It is preceded by bravely guarding the precepts, practicing patience, exerting effort, and entering into meditative concentration. The Perfection of Wisdom is preceded by distinguishing the dharmas of Bodhisattvas. Likewise, the aggregates, elements, and sense bases should also be combined with the aspect of non-objectification. The thirty-seven factors of enlightenment should also be combined with the aspect of non-objectification. The powers and the fearlessnesses and the individual correct knowledges and the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddhas should also be combined with the aspect of non-objectification. Even up to the all-knowingness, it should be combined with the aspect of non-objectification. Kauśika. For example, the shadows of as many trees in Jambudvipa with different leaves and different fruits do not diminish the difference or distinction in the number called shadows. Kauśika. Likewise, there is no difference or distinction between the five perfections that are completely grasped by the Perfection of Wisdom with the aspect of non-objectification and those that are completely included in all-knowingness. Indra requested: Blessed One, this Perfection of Wisdom possesses great compassion. It makes all qualities complete. It possesses immeasurable qualities. It possesses infinite qualities. This Perfection of Wisdom possesses inexhaustible qualities. Blessed One, any son or daughter of good family who writes this Perfection of Wisdom on a book and holds it, and treats it with respect with flowers, incense, perfume, garlands, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, and flags, regards it as a teacher, makes a picture of it, makes offerings to it, and also properly attends to the Perfection of Wisdom as instructed, and any son or daughter of good family who writes this Perfection of Wisdom on a book and gives it to others, these two

What virtuous deeds generate the most merit? The Blessed One said: Kausika. Therefore, I will ask you about this. Answer as you see fit. Kausika. What do you think? If a son or daughter of good family offers flowers, incense, perfumes, garlands, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, and streamers to the relics of the Tathagata, venerates them, respects them, depicts them, and makes offerings; and if a son or daughter of good family distributes a mustard seed-sized portion of the Tathagata's relics to others, and then that son or daughter of good family also offers flowers, incense, perfumes, garlands, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, and streamers to that mustard seed-sized relic of the Tathagata, venerates it, respects it, depicts it, and makes offerings, which of these two do you think generates more merit? Indra replied: As I understand the meaning of what the Blessed One has said, if a son or daughter of good family venerates, respects, depicts, and makes offerings to the relics of the Tathagata with flowers and so on, it is better to distribute the relics to others, as the latter generates more merit. The Tathagata, seeing the essence of the matter, generated great compassion for those beings among the assembly of beings who would be tamed by the relics of the Tathagata. The Tathagata entered into a diamond-like samadhi, shattered his diamond-like body, and blessed it into the relics of the Tathagata. Blessed One, even the root of virtue generated by offering to a mustard seed-sized relic of the Tathagata after the Tathagata's complete passing into nirvana, until the time of complete passing into nirvana, all of them cannot fully comprehend its extent. The Blessed One said: Kausika. It is so, it is so. Kausika. Son of
